While hanging out at my Dad's, spotted this downy woodpecker hanging out at the suet. I love the almost "Excuse me?!" pose the woodpecker held when a house sparrow decided to land there too.
Looking out across Eagle Valley towards the (lightly dusted) Sierra Nevada. The Carson River is below, lined by cottonwood trees, and the edges of Carson City are visible on the ridge in the center and against the hillside to the right.
Watching the morning horde (all the sparrows) come in for the breakfast banquet, happened to glance up to the top of the cherry tree. A Northern Mockingbird had just landed, but never sang the whole time I watched.
While waiting for some sort of song, went back to watching the horde and found one watching me back.
