My first show was in 1985, I was barely 15. I remember the show, but not the setlist specifically. Although, given the band, I would have enjoyed any they played. However, this comes to mind, and I know they played it that night:

Monday: 160 seconds of plank, 11 minutes of Yoga for runners, 21 minutes of strength training, and 10 minutes of core training, followed by 5.2 km of (-4°C with a windchill of -8°C), picked up groceries, and walked home.

Nice and cool run, at least. I'll enjoy it while it lasts.

Tuesday: 121 seconds of plank, 20 minutes of HIIT with Kim, 11 minutes of Yoga for runners, followed by 6.5 km of (3°C).

Bailed on the planned 10k because (sigh) my right need was bugging me again. Maybe time to change shoes that are @ 1,600+kms.🤔

Nice to be out in a tshirt again though.

Excited for the weekend, hope I have time to watch Dune 1 & 2 (and maybe the original 1984 film too). 🤞🏻

Friday: 138 seconds of plank, 9 minutes of kettle bells, followed by 7.36 km of (+ 1°C). Almost achieved a negative split (where each successive KM is faster than the previous). Really felt like I was flying along in the last KM and a half.

Another tough morning even though I slept in until nearly 8am as today we start nine days of in a row. Won't be around much during. 🤷🏻

Realm of Dark Waves by Leaves' Eyes https://music.apple.com/ca/album/realm-of-dark-waves/1726606609?i=1726606629

1) Icy path winds through Bordeleau Park with trees scattered about. 2) The empty Rideau Locks with Parliament hill in the background and the Ottawa River in the distance. 3) The Aboriginal War Veterans memorial, with a plaque that (partially) reads: TO ABORIGINAL WAR VETERANS IN CANADA AND TO THOSE THAT HAVE FALLEN This monument is raised in sacred and everlasting honour of the contributions of all Aboriginal Canadians in war and peacekeeping operations. Many thousands of Aboriginal people saw action and endured hardship in the First and Second World Wars and the Korean War. They served with honour and distinction in all branches of the service and in every rank and appointment from Private to Brigadier. They fought overseas to defend the sovereignty and liberty of allied nations, in addition to supporting the cause at home. Their dedication continues in peacekeeping operations in faraway lands. Their heroic acts earned many decorations for bravery as well as the respect and enduring friendship of their comrades in arms. Hundreds from across Canada gave fully of their lives so that all Canadians might know peace and inherit freedom. We who would follow in their path are humbled by the magnitude of their sacrifice and inspired by the depths of their resolve. We owe them a debt of gratitude we cannot soon hope to repay. This monument was made possible by the National Aboriginal Veterans Association and the generous donations of the Canadian People

Thursday: 107 seconds of plank, zero pushups, followed by 6.6 km of (-6°C with a windchill of -11°C), then picked up groceries and walked home.

Slept terribly, woke up feeling sore and like garbage; not sick… Bleh. Plank was a struggle until I stopped, my chest muscles were unhappy.

Opted for a shorter run today, even though conditions were ideal for me. Fitness is going to go right out the window starting tomorrow.

Opted for a shorter run today to try and save some energy for the long day ahead.

Tuesday: 170 seconds of plank, 10 minutes of kettle bells, followed by 11 km of (-6°C with a windchill of -12°C). Grey and overcast, just how I like it.

I typed too soon yesterday; plank was really hard today - barely made the goal time, but the run was great, even if it was a bit messy out. Fastest run of the year and (checks spreadsheet) since my return to running from injury.

Monday: 170 seconds of plank, 85 pushups, followed by 12 km of (-2°C with a windchill of -8°C), got groceries, and walked home.

The planking doesn't feel like as much of a struggle, so I'll call that progress.

About half of this route is sidewalks/cleared paths (with some ice for fun), and the other half is off-road & uncleared, so it's an interesting mix of challenges for running to keep it interesting/frustrating. 🤣

Friday: 170 seconds of plank (new record!), 9 minutes of kettle bells, followed by 6.5 km of (-1°C with a windchill of -6°C) in freezing rain.

Made it about 50 metres this morning before turning around to go home and switch to my shoes with the spikes on them. After that, it was pretty smooth, if somewhat noisy (clack, clackity, clack, clackity…) 🤣

One interesting thing about the New Music Mixes is that it can get weird some times.

Admittedly, my music taste is eclectic, so I should expect it, but I listened to maybe two “belly dancing” songs in the past week while looking for something in my music archive, and a bunch of the new tunes are what I'd call bellydancing music. 🤣

One week it's almost all metal, another KPop, I think I'm straining Apple's music recommendation engine. 🤣

Thursday: 161 seconds of plank, 80 pushups, followed by 5.2 km of (-3°C with a windchill of -7°C), picked up some groceries, and walked home.

Wore my cleats because at that point in the morning, everything was icy, so I kept the run short and then clack-clack-clacked around the grocery store. 🤣

of the day: Go by The Chemical Brothers https://music.apple.com/ca/album/go/1440827730?i=1440827739

1) Dark close-up of a branch with ice on it, with light reflecting off the ice-covered snow. 2) Ice-covered snowy path through a park, with everything tinted blue from the predawn sky. 3) Icy snow-covered path along the Rideau River with trees on both sides. 4) One of my shoes, with ice cleats on.

Wednesday: 10 minutes of Apple Fitness strength beginner strength training, 10 minutes of Yoga for beginners, followed by 160 seconds of plank, and the followed by 11.1 km of (-10°C with a windchill of -17°C).

The two workouts were nice and easy, and today I learned not to do plank right before going out for a run.

Especially a run in snowy conditions. What a mess out there. 😳

So now my thigh muscles are differently sore for coping with running on ice. 🤣 Also nice to be back on

(Q: should I include Apple Music links to songs?)

1) Snow-covered tree-lined recreational path with some benches on the left. 2) Boardwalk covered in snow at frozen-over Dow’s Lake. 3) The Rideau Canal skate way from ice level with the Bank Street bridge in the distance. 4) The Flora Street bridge crossing over the Rideau Canal skate way with a pylon warning of rough ice on the left. 5) The Rideau Canal at the Corktown Bridge, with the Chateau Laurier visible at the end. Monday: 160 seconds of plank, 75 pushups, followed by 10.1 km of (-7°C with a windchill of -14°C), then picked up groceries, and walked home.

Got out the door a bit later than intended, but it was a good enough run, even if it is still feeling like a struggle; my heart rate was about 10 bpm higher than usual for the same “effort”. Might just be a Monday thing. 🤷🏻
