Last night, was setting up the bar area for both a photoshoot later today, and also a small focus group coming over to test these budget espresso machines. Missing from the pic: a Flair Neo Flex $100 manual, portable espresso maker.

Should be... fun? :)

I’m so happy! Managed to disassemble the solenoid valve, clean it and put it back together. There was no water flow on the grouphead, now it’s like new!

It's a common misconception that 's original spring lever machine design - the one that introduced modern day high pressure espresso brews with proper crema in 1947 - was a 9BAR machine.

It was not. It was a peak 7BAR machine (but more rated for 6.5BAR)

Experimentation between 1947 and 1955 by Gaggia, , , , and others pushed the springs to higher compression rates, bringing espresso up to around 9BAR.

The E61, with it's rotary pum, was 9Bar ex.factory.

I don't just use $10,000 espresso machines to make great tasting .

You can make espresso that sings with $450 machines ( Classic 1st photo), even $250 machines ( XP series, 2nd photo).

It takes a good grinder (lots of $200 grinders out there that are excellent), good coffee, and good technique. Our website helps you make this journey.

Check these two out:

Another busy day!

  1. Completed removal of all Twitter integration on CoffeeGeek.com (I think... there was a lot, buried here and there).

  2. Another solid 2 hours testing of the Classic EVO Pro machine. Lots of temp surfing.

  3. Working on the backbone of CoffeeGeek a bit: we're revising the structure of the website, an on going, months long project (shifting to Flexbox)

  4. Able to do the photo session for the Breville Infuser machine.

And it's Thanksgiving Monday!

Another day, and more testing, note taking, evaluation, and parameters-testing of the Classic Evo Pro machine.

Ahhh... I had almost forgotten how to 'temperature surf", something I helped popularize on a very early (like 1rst six months of it existing) youtube with an old Rancilio Silvia video, way back when :)

The Gaggia Classic Evo Pro definitely needs temperature surfing. ;)

Really long day today, but a good one.

It's in Canada; I put together an intimate little meal for my loved ones, all based around something different: turkey schnitzel! We all counted our blessings.

Happy Thanksgiving to my fellow Canadians!

Also, I spent 3 hours testing the Classic Pro Evo machine, getting re-familiar with an old friend. Snapped lots of photos, recorded lots of numbers and thoughts. Thoroughly caffeinated!

@coffeegeek I’ve got the for the last Christmas from my wife! It has some quirks, but overall it’s a really nice machine! The white one looks dope!🥰
