Whilst writing that last thread my absolutely shat the bed. Just 100% stopped working. Well, as far as the computer was concerned. As far as the Glove80 is concerned all is hunky-dory 👍

Alas, you need both.
Typing on the Kinesis now with its 18 too few keys. Argh!

Will try and diagnose after dog walking & feeding 🐕 ...

Keyboard update: According to the docs & Indicator lights "The output device is connected, but not being used for output"

a) wtf am I supposed to do with that?!
b) why is this even an option?!

Question for the geeks.
Every night i take my mac to the living room, bring it back, and plug it in to power with the lid closed. Each morning I plug it into the monitor and open the lid.

Why is it that all of my devices (mouse & airpods) seem to be reconnected just fine, but my split keyboard, & the split keyboard refuse to. I have to restart bluetooth on the computer for them to be connected.

???

I've finished (🤞) tweaking the design of the clips (brackets?) to hold the in place on my desk with it's chamfered curve.

They work really well. You just lift the keyboard halves out, and set them aside when you want more desk space.

It took a number of attempts to get here...

A photo of a random pile of 5 earlier attempts, a clip board some nottebooks, a mechanical pencil, a 3d printed dice box (you can't tell from the picture) cords, and assorted other desk...stuff.
a "beauty shot of the two clips" sitting on a nice wooden table with light reflecting off of their shiny copper colored filament.

Thinking about my Kinesis Advantage360 (dunno why 🤷‍♀️) and how i really do prefer its physical aspects to those of the MoErgo Glove80, but it's just unusable to me without an escape key‡. So, I wondered about just adding a single key macropad in the appropriate corner. Then I wondered how hard it would be to make one.

If you're curious this is a great 14min overview of what's involved. https://youtu.be/P_oSLBZABGA

‡ :glare: don't say it. Take your capslock heresy somewhere else.

oh no. I watched another video of his & a sponsor gave him a sweet set of resin printing things, so in addition to custom printing the case he made custom printed keycaps which are beautiful. I've been wishing i could do that because ever since the Keyboardio Model 1 I've wanted keycaps that let the LED shine through the transparent letters, but you can't buy any low-profile Choc v1 ones (for the ).

This is a dangerous rabbit hole.

Well, it's taken me 3 months, but i finally cleaned the stuck key in my Advantage Pro 360. I must admit that I was so annoyed with the experience up to that point that I dragged my feet.

In the meantime I've been typing on the MoErgo . It's a very decent keyboard with a dramatically superior software experience, when it comes to customizing the layout.

However...

Spent some quality time with my Glove80 and Engram-based layout yesterday. I think this is, in fact, the end game. I’m still at 0 wpm on MonkeyType (having not used it or practiced for a couple of weeks), but it just feels really nice.

Behold the fruits of my labors!

It lives!
A functional bridge / spreader bar for the MoErgo . My right half has a tendency to go wandering around the desk and rotating as the day progresses. This leads to a lot of miss typed characters.

Is it thicker than it needs to be? Yes.

Is it wider than it needs to be? Yes.

Are those things trivial to fix? Yes.

Does it need fixing? No.

A close-up of one end of the spreader bar with the keyboard removed. You can see two cylinders on it. The correspond to two of the cylindrical feet of the keyboard, which you can see behind it.

In the realm of ridiculous fancy keyboards I have (in order of acquisition):

They're all good keyboards, but its the Keyboardio that I think longingly about. It's the one I long to use every time I see a picture of someone's.

it's such a good keyboard for many physical & emotional reasons. BUT I derive a lot of value from having a "full" set of keys & not relying on "layers".

Well, according to monkeytype https://monkeytype.com/ if i take the time to correct typing errors (like you would in real life), switching to the has dropped me to ~76 wpm from ~100

The keys are closer together and my fingers are still reaching for the old locations. But considering I've only used it for like half a day total, I'm pretty happy. :D

My came today. I instantly replaced the wired kinesis that I was using as a backup, swapped most of the keys for black ones, and started generating a custom keymap.

EVERYTHING about the process was nicer than the pro.

Now that I’ve got my custom keymap set up switching to it is surprisingly painless. AND I have more keys so i don't have to do stupid stuff with the escape key.

Although, it doesn't come with a capslock key cap which is...weird.

my keyboard layout. The heart of it is Dvorak, but there are minor changes to the locations of the non-core letters. Also F 3, F4, and F6 are missing.

Finally, there's an extensive review of my favorite , the MoErgo , on RTINGS.com:
    https://www.rtings.com/keyboard/reviews/moergo/glove80

For office use, Glove80 scored 8.7 of 10 points. Here are all pros and cons they list:

    Pros:

    • Excellent typing quality.
    • Exceptional ergonomic adjustments.
    • Remarkably low wired latency.
    • Lightweight, relatively low profile design makes it a more portable than many ergonomic models.

Glove80 vs Moonlander Mark I? [opinions needed]

I plan to buy my first split keyboard (forever) very soon and would like to hear y'all's opinions on the Glove80 (switch: Kailh Choc v1 Brown Tactile) and Moonlander (switch: Kailh Copper or Cherry MX Brown) two. I've already searched for threads and comments on the matter a few days ago through kbin, so any links to them you...
