Ok! Going to try bringing something in from the twitland that my favorite violinist, #HilaryHahn, started. This is my first #100DaysOfPractice. I’ve been playing a lot of viola, but recently one of her pegs started slipping, so here’s my attempt to practice a #Viola piece on the #Violin! I worked on Bach’s Bourrée 1 in two parts because it was easy enough to read up a fifth 😅. A little clumsy, and it’s amazing how small the violin feels compared to the viola.
Some things I observed:
My bow arm is all over the place, I need to really focus on and improve my contact point 🫨
The trills in part one are uneven, and I should find a cadence I like and make it consistent across the repeat. 🎼
Just general memorization - recording made me extra anxious and having to double check with the score caused a few more pauses than I’d expected 🎶…🎶
That ending octave needs a whole tuning session to itself 😂
I’m open to other observations too! Happy playing 🎻
#HilaryHahn's performance of #SamuelBarber's Violin Concerto, Op. 14 (along with The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, Hugh Wolff) just reminds you why she is Hilary Hahn. Brilliant. #violin#violinist
