Calgary Flames & Toronto Maple Leafs fans will have Amazon Just Walk Out as an option for grabbing a beer at the game this season. There are lawsuits in both Illinois [1] & New York [2] over the technology, alleging biometric data is collected without consent, but Amazon describes the tech as not collecting any identifying biometric data [3]
If the lawsuits are correct, this probably wouldn’t be allowed in Canada, as shown in the Canadian Tire case [4], but based Amazon is being truthful about the unspecific & ephemeral nature of the data collected [3], it probably won’t have any problems in Canada
