One of the more interesting things when I was working for the Election Commission was finding out that of 5 people at the polling booth I was working at, 4 of us had birthdays in October, and 3 of us had birthdays on the same day (different years). Wild.
Two voters with the same birth date turned up and I told them about the coincidence - they were chuffed.
#AoNZ peeps! Advance voting for the general election starts NEXT MONDAY 2 October. You should be getting your voting packs in the mail over the next few days. Put your EasyVote card into your wallet so you'll have it with you.
Note that you don't NEED your Easyvote card to vote. It just makes things quicker and easier. No photo ID is required either!
Chris Luxon is becoming more untrustworthy everyday. The guy might be able to sell lynx deodorant to teenage boys but is really struggling to sell Nat's flawed tax cuts policy to the people of #NewZealand. .
It's only words and words are all I have to take your hearth away.
Does #NewZealand honestly want to see the reintroduction of semi-automatic assault weapons and the scrapping of the gun register? Anyone voting for ACT is green lighting more gun violence, domestic terrorism and will have blood on their hands. #NZVotes2023#NZPol
Seems the ACT Party's attempts to protect the illegal firearm distribution industry is not supported by National. Is the #NACT Koalition of Kaos headed for a gunfight at the O.K. Corral? #NZPol#NZVotes2023
@AnneleiseHall#NewZealand has 248,764 licensed shooters owning an estimated 1.2-1.7 million unregistered guns. The market is saturated and the #NRA are becoming desperate.
The amount of funding going to the ACT Party from the firearms, pharmaceutical, petrochemical and tobacco industries should be ringing alarm bells for #NZTwits. #NZPol#NZVotes2023
@SlaneCartoons In my opinion, the worst thing to happen for the last remaining centrist #NZPol govt, Labour NZ, was to win the first ever NZ single party majority MMP election in 2020. If you're unhappy with NZ Labour's centrist governance just vote #NZGreen or #TPM in #NZVotes2023 election. Revitalise and restore the progressive governance that's so urgently needed. Get NZ #BackOnTrack by voting left.
@mikelygee@pezmico@River Firstly, NZ has two very real choices to make #NZVotes2023. Either a govt focused on austerity measures to finance tax relief to the wealthy elite of which many are currently paying a lower rate of tax than minimum wage workers. Or a left wing bloc that will at the very least maintain investment in public services. The beauty of #MMP is you can add flavour to that bloc by voting #Greens or #TPM to provide a stronger mandate for progressive #NZPol#ClimateChange action.
Do #NZTwits realise National's proposal to end fuel taxes and replace these with congestion charges will mean smaller fuel efficient vehicles will be subsidising oversized gas guzzling high polluting male fragility machines and cause higher carbon emissions on top of the increased methane emissions under National kicking the farm methane emissions can further down the road. #NZPol#ClimateEmergency#NZVotes2023
Many #NZTwits have decided the #NZVotes2023 election is lost thanks to Hipkins’ abandoning CGT or wealth tax in the next term. I would like to reframe the scenario. Nact’s whole campaign is centred on attacking Labour taxes. Now the fear is focused on Greens & TPM tax reforms. They’ll get more support from the left and the right’s only way of guaranteeing no new taxes is voting Nact or Labour. The higher TPM & Green support the more centrist voters will vote Labour. #NZPol
Bold strategy of the ACT leader, David Seymour, to suggest if Labour doesn't get enough votes to be the dominant party in the next coalition government then voters run the risk of NZ Greens and Te Pāti Māori having enough power to introduce CGT and wealth taxes.
