Question. I want to use to render image but the image is not locally hosted. renderImage only seems to work with locally hosted images. Is there a work around?

It's here!

"Publish and run Python and R scripts on Posit Connect"

https://docs.posit.co/connect/news/#posit-connect-2024.04.0

Before, if you wanted an R script on Connect (for example, to take advantage of Connect's scheduler), you had to publish it as a .Rmd or .qmd file. No longer.

While data scientists are often taught about training a machine learning model, building a reliable MLOps strategy to deploy and maintain that model can be daunting.

It doesn’t have to be this way!

Join us with Julia Silge at Posit on Wednesday, April 24th at 11 am ET to learn how Posit Team provides fluent tooling for the whole ML lifecycle.

No registration is required to attend - simply add it to your calendar using this link, https://pos.it/team-demo

I’m still considering whether to attend posit conference 2024. I’d like to attend the career fair to look for data science related jobs, meanwhile listening some talks. But the ticket is still expensive even for the students, I applied for Opportunity Scholarships but haven’t got any replies from @Posit till now. I doubt is it worthwhile to spend $1198 on a 3-day conference mainly for the career fair? Can anyone have some experiences of posit give some advice? Really appreciate it @rstats

Use Polars? Find options for displaying tables limiting? Check out great_tables latest update

Right now the Polars ecosystem has few good options for styling tables for presentation. Enter great_tables.

Posit eliminates the role of “Open Source Program Director” and lays off another employee. Seems like an important role and sounds like a role vital to steering their interests in open source software development. You know, just the mission of what was once Rstudio.

I acknowledge that restructuring may be more complicated than how I’m making it out to be, but surely they have considered the optics of this?

Wow. RStudio (recently rebranded as Posit) is partnering with Palantir. Yes, the same Palantir with ties to Cambridge Analytica. The same Palantir that partners with and actively supports ICE and other oppressive surveillance.

This is really not ok ethically, and can only mean a bad direction functionally for the company's software going forward. I never use RStudio for research myself, but it looks like I'll stop using it in teaching.
