As they crawl nearer to power, Labour ever so slowly abandon ‘pledges’
Environment, House of Lords, Executive declarations of war, you name it, ‘promises' from Labour are being carefully backed away from. It is a ‘frog in the slowly heating pot' syndrome.
This grade 7 student in #Japan was dissatisfied with her dad not paying her monthly #PocketMoney as promised, so she did an award-winning project in how to calculate late fees, including domestic and foreign interest rates as well as statutory late penalties, and then presented it as a bill to her dad. I think #PersonalFinance awareness in childhood is essential, and so is keeping #promises in #parenting, but this method does sound a bit too pushy...
So, 24 hours since Threads launched and many here in Fediverse has already preemptively started de-federating Threads.
And anger is also aimed at John Mastodon himself, Eugen Rochko for encouraging Meta to federate Threads. So much anger that some users are calling on instances to Fediblock mastodon.social in retaliation.
If Eugen’s stances are to encourage Threads to federate, he needs to step down as CEO of Mastodon and let someone else take over…..
….. because clearly, this goes against Mastodon’s stance of going against Big Tech, especially Facebook and not be privacy invasive.
Many here joined the Fediverse to escape the big tech, and hate groups and unmoderated free speech. They don’t want to see the Fediverse become a cesspool.
That’s what Eugen promised when he started the Mastodon project. He needs to honor that promise. Otherwise, users will leave.
