Shadow Eliminators just ended this week. Another week with another series I was reading ending.
However, don't feel that bad about this one. If this series didn't end, I was about to drop it anyway. It went from a story a week with a teenager who could summon spirits to fight evil spirits, freeing them of the burden.
That said, when it started to do world building, IMO, it faltered and the world they built became unnecessarily convoluted.
So, it looks like RuriDragon is coming back with a number of chapters...followed by a slower schedule.
I'm glad it's coming back, it's a cute series and I was really enjoying it. I also truly hope the creator is doing well. I know health was the reason for the original indefinite hiatus.
So I’m nearly halfway through watching One Piece. Why do I get the feeling that Boa Hancock is going to convince Luffy to marry her the same way Chi Chi convinced Goku: by telling him that their wedding will include a feast? 😂

Do Retry was an interesting series. It was set in a post-World War II Japan with a sick sister and rough brother who gets pulled into underground boxing tournaments to try to raise money to help his sister.
The series followed Aozora as he tried to raise the money for his sick sister by boxing. The series progressively gets better as it goes on as Aozora learns to be a better boxer. It was an interesting, and grittier sports / boxing manga.
All that said, when it was clear the series was being canceled - the way it ended was...less than stellar. Aozora's father was a Japanese soldier in World War II. And disappeared.
But, then is discovered to be living in the wilderness for reasons, hiding from all of his problems.
And then Aozora finds him using his underground criminal friends to help. And then they box. And Aozora kind of wins, kind of. Mostly makes his Dad realize he needs to go home and stop hiding from reality.
And then it just...ends there with the sister becoming quickly better. Surviving. And then a time jump to modern times where Aozora is merely a dying grandfather whose life story encourages his young adult grandson to be more motivated to folow his dreams.
It's...okay. Early chapters were a little rough, but the middle chapters really hung on & hit its stride.
TL;DR - This boxing manga series gets better & better until the Dad is revealed and...eh, it ends. And the timejump was unnecessary.
I read on that #Fabricant100 by Daisuke Enoshima is ending this weekend with the upcoming issue of #ShonenJump.
That series was tough for me because it felt like it never really got a single footing. It kept grasping at interesting & different ideas, but never finishing it up.
The art and world setting were well done. This final arc also has been better than the previous ones. But, again, something always felt missing or incomplete.
Not unhappy I read it, but not sad it's ending. It had a lot of potential.
Looking forward to what Enoshima comes up with next.
#ShojoNull is a new #robot#manga from #ShonenJump, and boy is it a ride! Like, imagine if Jiminy Cricket had allowed Pinocchio to go on a murder spree kind of ride.
I read the first chapter of a newer #manga series, Shojo Null, and it was a wild first chapter. Basic premise of the world setting - it is set in the future where human-body based robots callee "gijin" serve humans in everyday tasks.
However, despite being told they have no sentience and are merely mindless tools, they do. And tech blocks them from that.
The story follows a kid with a deceased scientist Dad, and a newly freed gijin who had that part damaged so they gained their freedom / sentience.
It gets violent.
A well done intro that makes you think about what defines a human. Let's see where it goes.
Read chapter 2 of #ShojoNull and my goodness did it go in hard. Not just on what it means to be a human with gijins, but also with its social commentary about the police.
What could instantly turn a bad day into a good day for me was coming home from school, and there being a copy of #nintendopower and #shonenjump in the mail pile for me. I would read these cover to cover, get excited for upcoming games, get hints on games I was playing, get a new chapter or two of a manga I was following, and learn what was hot in Japan.
If someone told you that there was a #manga / #anime series about a teenager who was inhabited by the spirit of an ancient king who used magical powers to play games where he was able to mentally imprison or harm his own enemies or those of the human shell for which he dwelled within...you'd likely assume it was a series geared towards adults.
But, I explained the actual early arcs of the #YuGiOh manga.

Mashle: Magic and Muscles - Mash changed the world. After being selected to be the next Divine Visionary...Mash rejected it. He didn't even reject it in person, he just sent a letter, requested Lance get it. It was a very Mash thing to do.
The rest of the chapter flashes forward to Mash's cream puff shop. Everyone slowly comes into the shop and it is such a cute, fitting finale.
It has been a while since a series ended on such a fitting note as Mashle.
Akane-Banashi - Hikaru has finished and managed to capture the top spot. She had a perfect score from the online voting, but also very high marks from the judges.
Akane comes up next and it really is going to be a surprise. She's performing something that is new, unexpected for her, and a story that reminder her of her Dad.
This is either going to be amazing or a real challenge. Can't wait to see what's next.
Do Retry - Our hero is trying to learn stronger techniques, finds a study guide, gets stopped by some dude who apparently knew his father...and they're going to fight soon!
Oh and the study guide was made by the main character's Dad when he was a boxer.
WHAAT!
Ice-Head Gill - Wow this series has such a cute aesthetic for covering such a dark topic.
This chapter has Gil running into a man who lost his fiancé. Turned out she was being controlled by a lich that had come from Hell and Gil ends up having to kill her.
The very cute design of Gil and the art style is interesting as it is offset by the dark nature of people being controlled by demons and their bodies going on murdering sprees.
Jiangshi X - Wow! We've got our trio trying to escape with the Princess after a powerful Jiangshi arrives.
The one is trying to tap into the powers of his father to stop this one and help them escape. It looks like he may actually succeed - but if he doesn't, it is going to be brutal.
