What are your thoughts on DNF (Did Not Finish)-ing books? Do you feel guilty about it? Do you worry you missed out on something? Or are you confident in dropping a book and reaching for the next one?
At what point are you most likely to DNF, if ever? What sorts of things cause you to DNF?
@skaeth@bookstodon "There is a sense of guilt when we leave a book unfinished." This very sentiment comes up time and again in discussions with our #SilentBookClub group. Kriti does a great job of exploring the subject.
Our #SilentBookClub group reminds me every month (and that's every month for more than 6 years now, gathering virtually and in person ...) that reading is joy, solace, delight, so many things but emphatically not a competition. Our latest report and always delicious combined reading list is a tribute to readers cheering on readers: http://bookgagabooks.ca/2024/01/28/readers-cheering-on-readers/
Delighted to report that our Toronto #SilentBookClub group is still going strong, meeting virtually twice a month (and hoping to fit in some in-person gatherings when weather permits). One of our meetings every month has evolved into a themed discussion about how we read and what sorts of factors affect and inform our reading. We're getting to know each other as readers and friends and, well, let's just say our tbr piles are not getting any shorter! http://bookgagabooks.ca/2023/07/02/when-our-reading-choices-surprise-us/
