Folks with #selfhosted#music libraries, I've heard some folks say that they have 10TB of audio files in their libraries. Approximately how many individual tracks is that? I'm assuming that it's a lot of lossless files, but I'm curious what the average file size is and the number of files that comprise such a library.
@ellie@djc@flockofnazguls I recently started using navidrome together with something called bonob to stream it to my #sonos devices, but this is something that the recent #sonosapp disaster removed, which is why I'm building my own thing right now.
I love it: deliberately removing features is now called “a bug”, re-integrating basic features like searching and handling local music libraries will take—checks notes—6 months. But after that people won’t remember that #Sonos just shipped a shitty, ahm, “not quite finished” app, because, hmmm, users demand buggy shit nowadays to feel alive?
Too bad that most of the menu items supposedly under System Settings → Manage aren’t actually there (AirPlay? Alarms? Audio Compression? Date & Time?), and those that are there don’t have the claimed functionality (e.g., you can’t actually set the wifi channel in Network).
Anyone with Sonos on here don’t update your apps if you haven’t already. The new app removes lots of functionality: alarms, sleep timers, playlists, accessibility (screen readers no longer work properly). Best to wait the roadmap is apparently some time before some of the previous features are back.
What, on, the, earth? Any of my #SonosSpeaker using friends out here who have #SiriusXM beheld what they have done to it in the #SonosApp? No longer are channels organized by category and some of the "app only channels seem to be dimmed. I ask why?
