Thinking about how several states have laws banning people from taking newborn puppies away from their mothers before 8 weeks because it is traumatic—yet only 16 states (15 Dem & 1 GOP) and 0 federal laws mandate paid leave for new mothers.

@QasimRashid We also not only allow, but in some cases encourage separating babies from their families at birth, to increase "the domestic supply of infants" for the adoption industry. Certainly if it's harmful to separate animals from their parents at birth it is also harmful to humans.

Controversial opinion:

I don't want the "right" to adopt. Nobody should have the "right" to have children. "Parental rights" are 99.9% a smokescreen for controlling and abusive parenting. The adoption system is the legal sale and purchase of children.

We need not . Kids need multiple safe voluntary options for acquiring food, shelter, and education. I'd rather spend my energies on bringing that about than arguing for LGBTQIA inclusion in an oppressive system.
