"Magic Moon" - Der 14.

Cover Art by Frank Frazetta for a reprint of „The Solar Invasion“ (Captain Future novel , Popular Library, 1968).
Unfortunately, the good captain somewhat looks like a beefcake in this portrayal... Maye Frazetta wasn‘t familiar with the stories?

  • ST-TAS re-discovered -
I remember well those weird glances - when being together with other nerds / scifi fans - whenever I mentioned my favourite animé fandom („Captain Future“): It was considered „kid‘s stuff“, and I somewhat felt ridiculed. The same was true for „Star Trek - The Animated Series“ which, just like Toei‘s CF show, wasn‘t aimed at kids at all...
    That was 25 years ago.

In January 1950, the first of seven Captain Future short stories, „The Return of Captain Future“, was published in the „Startling Stories“ magazine. In contrast to the more lighthearted novels, the short stories are quite dark and grim.

All the #SciFi I have read or seen from the 2,000 can be explained by this dichotomy.

We agree completely with the definitions for #cyborg and #mutant, the latter being used in this way pretty much in (evolutionary) biology as well. However, what is missing here, is that it a variation of the original being and the..."
