#Gandi was my domain registrar for many years (20+). But they raised prices after being acquired last year in ways I cannot support anymore.
So I went looking and compared prices, based on my domain portfolio, limited to EU-based registrars. The fediverse was really helpful in sharing candidates, thank you to all who helped!
Result: From an average of 22€/year per domain I can now go down to 12€/year.
AND NO, JAN, THIS DOESNT MEAN YOU CAN BUY MORE DOMAINS!1!! ;)
I need a new place for my domains/DNS. #Gandi is becoming too expensive. Where would you move your domains when you want to be sure it is in the EU and allows for full control of even weird DNS records, ideally by just uploading a BIND zone file? No discussions, please. Just suggestions. I think that 10-15€ per domain/year should be the max.
I see #Gandi gave up on their "No Bullshit" motto since acquisition:

J’ai pas déménagé mes sites de #Gandi (j’utilisais pas le mail + flemme) et là, en allant renouveler mon hébergement web, je constate que le tarif a doublé par rapport à l’année dernière !
Oh, maybe #gandi is giving me the motivation to finally move registrars. (Porkbun is still my default next choice, is that ok?)
They migrated payment processors in December (risky!) and it didn't work out well (maybe I'm part of a subset? either way) so they're asking me to re-register my payment details.
(Yes, it looks legit. No, I haven't and won't click on any links. I'll go directly to gandi.net and do it from there. Yes, I saw the news about the mishap with framework's accounting firm.)

Il faut dire que je stressais inutilement, ce fût rapide et simple.
Je n'ai pas migré de site, juste le nom de domaine et mes messageries.
je débarque. j'avais entendu que #gandi ils faisaient maintenant payer les emails mais ils se lâchent aussi sur le renouvellement des noms de domaine on dirait :(. J'ai un peu trainé et mon domaine expire demain et j'ai l'impression que c'est 2x plus cher chez eux.
If you have #domains hosted with #Gandi, you need to check your mail from them. They are eliminating the mailbox service at the end of this month; any domains where you were hosting email at Gandi, you need to get an email account elsewhere. #DNS
J'ai regardé Proton (j'aime bien mais cher pour moi d'autant que malgré le discours ils ont déjà balancé), Infomaniak (packs limite vente forcée, ambiance clignotante grande surface) et https://www.galae.net (me semble parfait mais je préfère éviter la France).
