Just had an interesting discussion with Barra Hart, author of The Cries of Alaere at @mcrscifi

Our next book is Translation State by Ann Leckie on 18th June, 7pm (BST / UTC+1), online so anyone can join.

Given up on Cries of Alaere (the #mcrsf book) and finally found the time to finish The Adventures of Amina Al-Sirafi which I thoroughly enjoyed...

Maybe I should move on with Earthsea again - I'm onto The Farthest Shore 8-)

Started read Clans of Alphane (Philip K Dick) for ... Oh god... I'm not entirely sure this won't end up joining Diamond Age in being flung across the room...

I should re-read Venomous Lumpsucker for on Tuesday

but...

There are a lot of other books in that tower...

And there's more B5 to watch...

I should really get down to reading the book…

We’re reading The Monday Letters by Emma Itäranta. A Finnish novel translated - I think - by the author. Which somehow, I have signed…

I should have a good hour or so to get started before going to my parents for lunch…

As long as the people in the box (waves) don’t distract me…

Tonight’s @mcrscifi book was just over our 150th book (there is a spreadsheet with possibly a few missing entries) since the group started in 2010 and my 100th book this year. 3.24/5 was the average (mean). Citizen of the Galaxy by Robert A. Heinlein (Starship Troopers is probably his best known work).

Really enjoying The Algebraist so far. Iain M. Banks is one of a handful of authors where I like everything I've read (even Pratchett has some duds IMO).

Empress of Forever by Max Gladstone got 3.1375 (out of 5) Kentaurs at tonight’s sci-fi book club discussion.

Collected next book for book club (Empress of Forever by Max Gladstone) and it’s pretty chunky, probably 50% wider and taller than a normal book and 480 pages. Can’t leave this one until the last minute, unlike the previous book.

Realised I haven’t made much progress on the book club (Space Opera, Tuesday) and none on film club (Memento, Thursday) and currently trying to rectify this. I am very much in ‘want to read/watch things I know I like’ mode at the moment.

(Re-)Reading for

Didn't terribly like it last time, let's see if I prefer it this time... (Previous score was 3/5)
