@OutofPrintArchive Once you have the stages routed, it kinda feels like you're just doing The Thing anyway, over and over, so maybe that's why it didn't bother me as much that, like you said, the stages in Journey of Dreams don't have as much replay value. But the bird was definitely shittier than the ideya captures.
I guess it's different for everyone, but I still enjoy trying to perfect a route and getting just a few more points till this day, same way as I'm still playing Sega Rally and trying to perfect those 4 tracks all these years later.
Somehow, there's so much nuance and subtlety in both of these that they keep me engaged, nearly 30 years later. 😁
Then again, I grew up on 70's and early 80's arcade cabinets, so score chasing is basically in my DNA.
I am working through the [at] pikuma [at] mastodon.gamedev.place course on NES development and I can now make Mario float ethereally through a single screen of the Mushroom kingdom
I wonder if it might have lost a little of its magic these days as there's been so many videos and articles about what the game did and how it plays with the player perception.
But still. Really unique.

I fired up my GameCube Animal Crossing game a few years ago and the animals were very cross with me for not talking to them in 97 months.

Franchement, non, pas ici, pas même pour mes enfants ! Ils trouvent Ocarina of Time super.
Certaines textures de Twilight Princess sont horribles en comparaison 🤢🤣
(Faut dire que j'ai trouvé le moyen de jouer à Ocarina of Time et Majora's Mask en NTSC 480p 16/9 sur GameCube 😁)
