I’ve came accross this very strange Gemini post:
gemini://vigrey.com/journal/orjner-gur-vqrf-bs-znepu-gevcyr-pnrfne-cbfg.gmi

Then, I had an intuition and decided to try something I had never done before in :

!rot13

It worked.

I’m astonished by my own software (even if the feature originally comes from AV-98 by @solderpunk )

@ploum I am doing a few experiments to see how hard it would be to make a python client for gwit... I saw you were interested in a git backend for offpunk, so I thought perhaps you might find this useful: https://github.com/aittalam/gwit_tests

(at some point I should also write more decent code 😅 but I wanted to release stuff early and see if anyone wanted to play with it!)

I’m really proud and thankful to all the packagers of . Thanks to them, the app has been quickly updated in most major linux distributions. Thanks!

We are still missing Fedora, OpenSuse and OpenBSD (and FreeBSD needs to be updated) but that’s already great.

Statement by @drewdevault regarding outage, with great details and transparency:

https://outage.sr.ht/

Ploum.net is hosted there as dev platform. Having those offline for a couple of day is a good excuse to take some distance and read a book.

Having been an admin for critical services, I’ve been there several times in my life. I could not handle the stress anymore. That’s why I’ve a max-tier paid account on Sourcehut. I want to thank the team for their work!

Stumbled upon a random video when I realized that…

Wait a second… That’s my code running there !

Glad to see used on older hardware.

@ploum

je confirme. J'ai beaucoup de vieilles machines qu'on me donne
"parce qu'elles ne marchent plus"
Certaines machines sont vraiment vieilles, et les firefox et autres chromium, tu oublies. Par contre marche super 🙂
idem pour des 2 ou 3a

Offpunk, the offline command-line web browser, has been released under version 2.0, introducing new standalone tools: netcache, ansicat, opnk.

The future of Offpunk: UNIX command-line heaven and packaging hell

https://ploum.net/2023-10-01-future-of-offpunk-packaging-hell.html

A story about how the UNIX philosophy made me develop tools I’m actually proud of and why packaging is holding me back. With @austreelis and @diazona as guest stars.

In my terminal, I’ve configured the following alias:
readlater="offpunk --fetch-later xsel -p".

This means that if I type "readlater" in any terminal, if there’s an URL in my clipboard (or several), those are added to my offpunk reading list.

So when browsing with firefox and finding something that looks interesting, I simply copy the url then type "readlater" in any available terminal.

Yep, completely replace Pocket for me ;-)

For the geeks, lovers and hackers: Offpunk 2.0 is nearly ready for release. I only need a lot of testing.

A new very nice feature just landed in trunk: themes. You can now customize the colors!

Don’t hesitate to drop a word on the -devel or -user mailing-list.

If you are a UNIX nerd, you may be interested by the future of .

True to the UNIX philosophy, I’ve split Offpunk into 4 atomic components which are themselves command-line tools.

  • netcache: a tool similar to wget/curl but using its own cache while disconnected (or if the cache is fresh enough)
  • ansicat: rendering txt/gemtext/html in the terminal (with pictures)
  • opnk: an universal open tool, allow to open URL and files
  • Offpunk, itself.
