I did not want to use the github link in the package.
A simple #Emacs mode which shows the clocked time today in the modeline. It uses the time clocked in org-agenda-files. The main goal is to always see how much I already worked, so I see more easily whether it is time to stop. #orgmode#productivity
If you would conduct a presentation or a demo for an #engineeringdiary and #knowledgebase, what topic(s) would you mention in any case that might not be one of the obvious candidates?
Are you surprised by those results? It seems that #AsciiDoc and #reStructuredText are (way) less popular than I thought, and that #orgmode is way more popular than I expected.
Of course, we should take those results with a grain of salt, as I assume many of my followers are #Emacs users. 😀
It’s been about 3 weeks since I’ve took my tasks from Workflowy to Org in #Emacs.
It took me quite a bit of tweaking to get it as simple as I like it.
This is not my first experience with #orgmode and the learning curve is pretty steep.
For my usage the results are pretty good so far. The iPhone app #Beorg is a must have to make it work.
Does anyone use #emacs as a personal wiki, or do you prefer something like #tiddlywiki?
Chatting with a friend who thinks that it would be a lot of work to configure #orgmode as a wiki, but I think it pretty much has all the features, right?
TiddlyWiki claims to be a single doc wiki, in which case, the function from #orgmode to insert links mimics that behavior well. Sure, a couple of small #lisp functions can improve it, so I wrote another essay explaining a bit how I go about writing them: https://howardism.org/Technical/Emacs/tiddly-wiki-in-org.html
One Big Text File Sure Sounds like OrgMode
Reading through Ellane's look at One Big Text File it seems to me that most of her issues could be solved with OrgMode. You can resurface notes on a set schedule with the Agenda feature. Events are simply headings with dates, and tasks get TODO added to the front of a heading.
It always bothered me that I couldn’t jump straight to a narrowed task coming from the org-agenda. I now figured how to achieve that and the solution was shockingly simple:
Orgzly Revived is a community-maintained version of Orgzly, as the development of the original app is no longer active.
The Orgzly Revived project aims to continue development of the Orgzly application. The rebranding is due to the disappearance of the Orgzly author so we, as the community, had to come up with a new solution. We plan to continue adding useful features, fixing bugs, keeping up-to-date with technological evolution, and generally maintaining the Org Mode outreach and its support on Android.
