I love Mayor Sutcliffe’s passion for opening roads for active use! Now imagine if he were consistent in this position.#ottawa #ottawalkers #ottbike

It’s really frustrating the pedestrian bridge at Carleton still looks like this! If it were a parking lot it would be open by now!

I am also sad to report that the stairs in Strathcona Park in Sandy Hill have entered the winter jail, so I won't be running up them for a few months. The ramp into the park isn’t winter maintained either and is still open. 🤷🏻

Picard: “An Insurance Institute for Highway Safety study includes this chilling statistic: If you are struck by a vehicle turning right, the odds of death are 89 per cent higher if it’s a pickup, and 63 per cent higher if it’s an SUV. Deaths are just the tip of the iceberg. Many more pedestrians are injured in collisions. This often occurs because drivers are distracted, or rushing.” https://www.theglobeandmail.com/opinion/article-banning-right-turns-on-red-would-be-a-step-forward-for-pedestrian/

This is tragic. I don't even know what to say. But I do worry we are seeing more and more accidents like this and yet I'm not seeing much of a road safety response from our city (besides victim blaming posters).

Let's not allow pedestrian and cyclist fatalities to become "just a thing that happens" in Ottawa.

So Mark Sutcliffe has earned the attention of the New York Times and it’s nothing to be proud of.

You jaywalked to save time cone. But you lost it. Forever.

Posters in some Old Ottawa South businesses are encouraging patrons to "share your thoughts on the proposed bus lane." The link takes you to a form letter opposing the bus lane. Fortunately it's very easy to edit. 😀
