And what visit to Elfin Forest would be complete without a #rattlesnake sighting? I’ll spare you the video this time. But it finally noticed me shortly after I stopped filming, and it demeanor “changed” slightly.
I encountered my first Red Diamondback #rattlesnake today ever. I’ve seen a lot of rattlers in my time, but this beast was an easy 6 feet, big around as my upper arm, and really pissed. It’s enough to make me think twice about ever hiking out there again. Of course there was the element of surprise; I had just walked past this spot not minutes before and I had decided to play some music on my phone. (bad idea, really). whew!!
🐍 So, it's not my photo, not my fence, not my dog, but it IS an excellent, one-shot illustration of why I'm turning myself inside out to come up with the cash for a snake fence. 😳🤦♀️
Found wolf spider inside garage by door as I was going out with dogs this morning. I put a lid on it. Texted for help, no hurry. Hubs arrives, scoops spider with shovel, opens the door to put spider outside.
At which time a rattlesnake hissed, rattled, and struck at the door as he was closing it. Comes inside tells me he's going to get the snake-grabber-thingy and to avoid the back door. Fucking yikes! Probably walked right by it too freaked about spider to notice. #Rattlesnake#Spider#Wyoming
This was my first rattlesnake!!!! It was curled up under a bird feeder at a friend's place north of San Francisco. I used extension tubes with my telephoto to get a closeup of its face, which meant getting my camera closer, but I had a table on its side between me and it. :)
I had visited a few times before & had been warned of keeping an eye out for rattlers, had once come across a shed skin, but this was my first time seeing one. :)
Hungry snake caught swallowing another, even bigger snake headfirst. The unusual sight was filmed in Haddock, Georgia by 82-year-old Tom Slagle, who was surprised to find the entwined serpents near his mailbox.
