#InterRail travel day: Zagreb-Berlin . Morning started good: after staying with family (& cat!) & receiving their help & love, I got to the train station mostly dry & on time; thd 2nd #train is leaving on time so there’s hope I’ll catch the next one (in infamous Villach)! #Seat42
My stay in Villach turned out to be wonderful :) I’ve napped a lot; the weather improved significantly: sunny & warm till 8PM; my hotel was a small #spa resort on the #lake - with swans! & view of #mountains! So I’ve fed the #swans this morning (radish leaves & “napolitanke”) ! & made it to the #train! Thanks #OEBB ! #InterRail#rest#day#vacation#NapMinistry
#interRail trip continues… but first, impressions from #etc : I’ve enjoyed meeting strong women , but there was always trees in the background for me… I am taking inspiration from the turtles for the slowness… I attended the workshop about resting! And then I left… I was on the #train station on time .. -> going to #LikaLodge again!!!
I'm off on a train to Zürich, two days there and then back to Australia.
St Gallen was a delight - I'd never even heard of the place before, but it's a very pleasant small city with a lot of history and some wonderful old architecture.
The train ride wasn’t as smooth as I would have liked, so I took a photo on my phone, sent it to my iPad, and did a loose squiggly sketch of some “Herzog” boxcars we passed.

The Budd RDC (Rail Diesel Car) was a diesel multiple unit built between 1949 and 1962. They were particularly useful for rural passenger service with low traffic.
Technically, the Budd RDC also holds the US #rail speed record because the New York Central thought it'd be fun to just strap two jet engines on the top of one.
I really wish we still had these Budd RDCs or something similar today for many routes which can't justify a larger #train but where a single car would be perfect.

Budapest, 1974. A happy whistle-blower with poor teeth :-). Actually a train conductor at the Újpest [New Pest] train station on the outskirts of the capital. We used to catch the train from there quite often but sadly, we didn’t seen many, if any, smiling conductors like this one.

Work has booked me some train tickets and the connection is a little tight...
I have a 'tarif normal' ticket booked for a SBB train from Basel to Strasbourg. However, the booked train leaves me with 13 minutes to get my connection. I'd like to take an earlier train.
Do you know if a 'tarif normal' ticket allows that?
Another V/Line train trip today. I'm heading to Bendigo to have lunch with my brother. As you do. A bit easier now that the country train fares in Victoria Victoria have been capped at $10.60 per day.
