CEO of Google Says It Has No Solution for Its AI Providing Wildly Incorrect Information (futurism.com)

You know how Google’s new feature called AI Overviews is prone to spitting out wildly incorrect answers to search queries? In one instance, AI Overviews told a user to use glue on pizza to make sure the cheese won’t slide off (pssst…please don’t do this.)...

A_Very_Big_Fan,

Honestly, they could probably solve the majority of it by blacklisting Reddit from fulfilling the queries.

But I heard they paid for that data so I guess we’re stuck with it for the foreseeable future.

A_Very_Big_Fan,

I think the hype is warranted in terms of technological progress, it’s just the way a lot of big corporations are using it is braindead and often anti-consumer.

It is technically doing exactly what it’s supposed to do, but the people in charge at Google seem to have blatantly ignored one of the most important rules of programming: “garbage in, garbage out”. They paid for shitpost-tier data, and now it’s doing exactly what anyone with half a brain would expect it to do with that information.

A_Very_Big_Fan,

otherwise what is the point of a transparent and federated platform?

So we can call this behavior out, then pack it up and move 196 to a new instance where this mod isn’t in control.

A_Very_Big_Fan,

True lol, I’m just saying that the option being on the table is important. If they don’t fix the issue, they risk everyone leaving for a better 196 elsewhere.

A_Very_Big_Fan,

Otherwise you are free to write Moss and become part of the mod-team

I did when they put that sticky up a while back, but I applied too late and never heard back from them lol

But to be clear I’m not saying we should do that right this instant, I’m just saying it acts as a good deterrent from letting this stuff fester.

A_Very_Big_Fan,

I think delusion might be a better word. You can hallucinate and know it’s not real

A_Very_Big_Fan,

As fun as it is to dunk on theists, this brand of Christianity is far from common, let alone representative of Christianity.

Rest in piss, Jack Chick, you miserable dirtbag.

A_Very_Big_Fan,
A_Very_Big_Fan,

It’s a comic by a right wing nut

It seems like prime satire material but at this point I wouldn’t doubt this.

A_Very_Big_Fan,

If you don’t mind me asking can you share some experiences from that time?

A_Very_Big_Fan,

Dating a depressed/suicidal girl for almost 4 years through middle school. To this day she’s still the funniest and smartest person I’ve ever met, but boy did she put me through hell back then.

But I came out of it with an unbelievable amount of patience and mental fortitude. I also learned how to avoid feeding into extreme attention seeking behavior while still having a productive conversation.

A_Very_Big_Fan,

Care to explain to the class why you think this is political??

A_Very_Big_Fan,

It has absolutely nothing to do with the government or its policies, for starters.

If you think society should regulate expressions of long lasting attraction, you’ve got issues.

A_Very_Big_Fan,

how

A_Very_Big_Fan,

I have a feeling it has nothing to do with regulating expressions of long lasting attraction between partners, but feel free to make your case

A_Very_Big_Fan,

Greatest villain, also transition goals

A_Very_Big_Fan,

I bet she’s thinking about a career change, if she hasn’t done it already.

A_Very_Big_Fan,

Idk man, in my experience laptops break down a hell of a lot faster than PCs

A_Very_Big_Fan,

I’d be more open to the idea if it were made by literally anyone else and was an entirely local process

A_Very_Big_Fan,

I don’t get enjoyment from a tragic event occurring. And I disagree with your definition of morbid curiosity.

If you actually read what I wrote, you’ll see that I’m saying I enjoy being scared, not watching people die. The whole point of the “Roy” thing is that nobody is ever actually in danger. What I’m wanting is an artificial way to experience things like that, which would satiate my curiosity, morbid and otherwise, and gives me the nightmare experience at the same time.

I love this. I’ve never heard of or seen it before, but now I want to
