Okay, its a terrible picture and its not ironed cause its way too hot to iron. The pattern is straight, fabric is just bundled up under it.

by . Stitched on white 16ct aida fabric, using approx 370 metres of black DMC thread, 6 needles used. Final stitched area is - 55cm wide and 69cm high.

This was a labour of love, a challenge, a reward to myself, part of my journey.

Its done now.

Queenslandโ€™s chief health officer Dr John Gerrard has been accused of โ€œmedical gaslightingโ€ following his comments on long COVID. | couriermail.com.au

@auscovid19

Source: https://www.couriermail.com.au/news/queensland/chief-health-office-dr-john-gerrard-slammed-over-calls-to-scrap-term-long-covid/news-story/aef6f684a37e9c6ddd38119b5f5f2005

โ€œThe message comes from the top. Why would healthcare staff in Queensland take patients seriously when the leading doctor diminishes the very real condition that is impacting more and more people?โ€ Ms Austin, 47, from Eukey, in the Southern Downs, said. โ€œI felt like my nervous system was constantly being eaten away by ants. My brain would seize and I would have no idea where I was in my own home. Iโ€™d get on a bus and would be sitting there clueless as to where I was going or why. It was so frightening,โ€ she said. โ€œI would have such severe chest pain Iโ€™d end up in the emergency department multiple times to be told they could find nothing wrong. I literally felt I was going mad and was totally alone.โ€ Dr Gerrardโ€™s comments made headlines internationally and garnered opposition from medical experts. His statement was related to new research, from his own team, that found there were similar ongoing symptoms with other viral infections. โ€œI donโ€™t deny that long Covid has commonalities with other post viral illnesses but it is crucial that it is labelled for the purpose of patient validation and pathways to treatment,โ€ Ms Austin said. Dr Gerrard emphasised to The Courier-Mail that he acknowledged that the symptoms are real and can cause significant distress to those affected.
โ€œHowever, the research suggests the types of longer-term symptoms and complications after Covid-19 are not unique or exceptional to the virus,โ€ he said. โ€œPhysically I feel better but mentally I am still scarred from the experience and I live in fear of getting Covid again as I just couldnโ€™t face reliving that nightmare. Covid is certainly not over for me or for many of the people still suffering. I managed to graduate and do well but life has changed for everโ€ Ms Austin said. Micquette Abercrombie from the Australia Long Covid Community said that hundreds of the groupโ€™s members are Queenslanders. โ€œThe level of anger and astonishment after the CHOโ€™s message was huge. One of the biggest problems facing members is being taken seriously by the medical community. They need to be believed and treatment developed,โ€ she said. Gary Macpherson from Hamilton, keeled over in the emergency department of the Royal Brisbane and Womenโ€™s Hospital in 2020 โ€” he had contracted Covid. That was the start of a health nightmare for Mr Macpherson. He landed in ICU for six weeks. Four years later he still suffers from lingering health problems sparked by the virus. He too has slammed the CHO for his comment that the phrase โ€œlong Covidโ€ sparked unnecessary fear. โ€œI donโ€™t have long Covid. I have Covid for life. It is very real. While I am not as debilitated as I was I still only have only 80 per cent lung function and kidney problems. I donโ€™t have any buffer if I get sick again,โ€ he said.

Long night so far.

A call from my sister just after midnight that sheโ€™d taken mum to the hospital.

Been holding bedside vigil while sister goes home and gets some sleep. Doctors running tests and whatnot. Morphine for the pain. Machines that go โ€œbingโ€.

Itโ€™s about 4:30am and mumโ€™s snoring with a plethora of tubes and wires.

Eyes are heavy. Chair is uncomfortable. The nurses showed me where I could make a cup of coffee for myself.

A quick, maybe not, a story

My mum had had enough of my brother's violence, damaging things and beating me and he did hit mum too ... So after many interventions by family and even a school headmaster of our primary school, police, and the education system. Mum decided that one of those boot camps for children that deals with issues with violence for young adults ... It needs "both" parents to sign a consent form ... This is where it went pear shaped

My brother's father {same as mine} wouldn't sign anything, threaten legal action, rang mum's parents and sisters and gave them a hard time ... So finally after months and months of his anger towards them and mum she gave in, under one condition that he {father} would help, by spending time and even have my brother move in with him ... As you all may guess, this never happened ... Who would have thought that

So, at the same time I wanted to come out, I was just 13 ... I didn't, why? ... I didn't want my mother or her family to get the wrath from the beast about raising a sissy

Thanks for reading ... Hugz

And in Qld political news, Andrew Laming is making a play for Mayor of Redlands shire.

IMO, there is no room for him in any position of power anywhere. If the people of Redlands vote for him, they deserve what they will get... they know him & his very special way of representing the people.

Meanwhile, I'll be preparing for political refugees!

๐Ÿ”ฅ ๐Ÿงฏ ๐Ÿ”ฅ

@AnnonBudgie@theblower.au avatar

@melissabeartrix @MarkAsser yes!

Child put trainers in the microwave to "dry" them. Apparently Internet said to put wet shoes in the oven on low with newspapers stuffed inside. (Of course they meant conventional oven)

Child followed directions & placed newspaper stuffed trainers in microwave on low power for 30 minutes.

The place stunk for weeks!

AnnonBudgie,
@AnnonBudgie@theblower.au avatar

@melissabeartrix @MarkAsser in some ways I was quite proud of the then 8 year old! Great direction following!
