After announcing increased prices, Spotify to Pay Songwriters About $150 Million Less Next Year (www.billboard.com)

When Bloomberg reported that Spotify would be upping the cost of its premium subscription from $9.99 to $10.99, and including 15 hours of audiobooks per month in the U.S., the change sounded like a win for songwriters and publishers. Higher subscription prices typically equate to a bump in U.S. mechanical royalties — but not...

ApollosArrow,

The interesting thing about Tidal is that is was originally owned by artists (Jay-Z, Beyoncé; Kanye West; Madonna; Jason Aldean; Alicia Keys; Arcade Fire; Coldplay’s Chris Martin; Rihanna; and deadmau5) Who have since sold off a majority share to Block, while Jay-Z kept a board seat and other artists still have shares. Curious if it will last.

ApollosArrow,

What is the general premise? I have a hard time believing a whole movie can be filled.

ApollosArrow,

Well, I did not know this thing existed at all.

I am very torn. While I appreciate the love that went into this project (and you can see it). It doesn’t really offer much to the larger story and probably didn’t beed to be 40min. If it were part of a tv series, I think it would likely slot in well, with some additional parallel Shire content going on.

ApollosArrow,

I’m really surprised they went with Shadow instead of Metal Sonic. Thematically Metal Sonic fits with all the Robotnik arsenal happening in the stories. Shadow is more at the forefront of stuff now, so I guess that’s why. I assume Shadow will be good by the end of it, similar to Knuckles, and the final boss may still end up being a version Metal Sonic maybe?

I got professional photos done for my credenza. Hoping to start selling furniture. What do you think? (lemmy.ca)

ApollosArrow,

Do not put your images on black unless you are trying to tease or hide a product. Go with anything brighter.

ApollosArrow,

Oh shit, here we go. I did not know a sequel was coming.

ApollosArrow,

Came here to see the discussion on this. My only assumption is he’s been paying more taxes than others. He’s been one of the few in favor of taxing the rich more.

ApollosArrow,

Honestly if they are even going to bother they need to push it even more into the crazy. They already split the one into a binary duo. For the next movie it should be a triad with the next character called something related to “Two”. That way we’d have Neo, the One, new character and then Trinity. They could say it was the plan the whole time. Given how much the Wachowskis like playing around with gender, identity and relationships, I wouldn’t even be surprised if it happened.

ApollosArrow,

Seems a difficult these days. I saw my niece last year who was in kindergarten at the time, and she was given a tablet by her school where she did all her homework and homework related video games. She’s also recently started learning photoshop and she’s 6 now. The way humans interact with technology will always keep changing. Some bas, some good.

ApollosArrow,

I have noooooo idea why. I was also amazed when I saw it. It was mostly choosing the correct colors and other rudimentary things.

ApollosArrow,

I eat this way and people look at me like I have two heads.

ApollosArrow,

Yeah, looks really cool. Looks like ori meets okami meets Hollow Knight.

ApollosArrow,

As a non book reader I had a similar take. The first movie felt slower with all the beats, this one felt like it was trying to accomplish a speed run. It felt like characters were just teleporting around with how quickly we were moving between locations. Overall it was visually stunning, but given how much was crammed in here I kind of wish there had been a way to add some of this into the first movie.

ApollosArrow,

This is the latest example that sparked it off again, but stuff like this has been going on for a decade. Many animators and vfx artists who work for high profile companies never get the final versions of their work and sometimes work on locked down servers where they can’t easily copy the work for themselves. They are at the whim of the company to provide them the files. Usually they are ignored so the artists resort to pirating the work to then edit it down and showcase on their websites and reels.

ApollosArrow,

As someone in the industry, I have done this as well, even while sometimes working at the very same company who should in theory have easy access to said files.

ApollosArrow,

I’m sure they do. It probably depends on the director’s vision. There are lists of the opposite people make, “movies you’ll only ever watch once”

ApollosArrow,

To save some clicks

Hi-Fi Rush, Pentiment, Sea of Thieves and Grounded

ApollosArrow,

I was going to post a similar sentiment. Maybe I’m being overly critical, but I remember when news was “new”. A version of this article comes out every other day.

Lemmy, is there a treasured piece of content that you stop yourself from going back to "too often" so as to not dilute it?

I do this for a few things, movies in particular. For me most recently, I’m planning on watching Bo Burnham’s Inside this weekend, for the first time since I watched it shortly post-release. I wasn’t really intending to wait checks watch nearly 3 years on that one, but I definitely felt it needed some space before a...

ApollosArrow,
  • The first few seasons of Red vs Blue
  • Back to the Future trilogy
ApollosArrow,

Oh man, I loved ending. The show didn’t go in the direction I thought it would either, but the ending I felt was one of the more unique Marvel things they’ve done in a while.
