I may have found an alternative solution to my blog's commenting system! 😺

The synchronization of comments from my Mastodon account. It's something I tried and abandoned, but I'm giving it another try after reading your comments. Well, I explain more on the blog and also share the source code:

@RapidWeaver is on sale today in the Indie Apps Sale. Despite the “weaver” name it’s really much more of a strict theme-based “static site generator” with a nice Mac GUI, than a freeform tool.

Which is actually just the kind of thing I’m looking for!

I’m going to try redesigning my hand-coded site https://appletalk.neocities.org because like we learned in the 90s, it’s really a pain to edit the navigation menu on every single page when you add some new content.

After some team work and prep work, we have now updated all nodes that run Mastodon code to 4.1.4.

This should close the known vulnerabilities.

@drahardja ha that’s fair, not yet. one thing I saw someone else do is to only show replies I “favorite” on Mastodon as a form of moderation. luckily nobody visits my page, but yes there are certainly plenty of toxic comments threads out there, news sites seem to get it worst.
