I love genuine questions and people putting in the effort to love and understand each other better. If you come at me just wanting to argue I’m going to troll you back. FAFO.

Anyone interested in helping me playtest a forum-based creative-writing RPG? (sh.itjust.works)

I made some prototype rules for this game, and the community I made for it is linked. Basically you have an “Editor” (Game Master/Dungeon Master) who guides the writers (players/characters) through creating a world and their characters, then regularly adds a chapter prompt that they have to write a chapter for their...

Apytele,

thats a lotta penis

Well, probably. You’d really need a survey on the prevalence of bottom surgery to prove that statement. but the point remains that my birth sex didn’t even feature until the fourth category down and it’s just a reminder that while assigned sex is often understandably a very private and sensitive matter, it does affect the foundation of your perspective on life, especially if you were a late transitioner. It’s odd sometimes being reminded that a huge chunk of my perspective is often missing from that of the people I’m talking to, especially since the way men react to me changed a lot as I aged even before I started presenting more masculine. Young + Femme vs 30’s/Full Adult + Masculine is just straight up night and day.

Apytele,

This is also how you handle psych patients …and psychiatric workers …and Healthcare administrators. I started getting much better work reviews when I started treating my boss how I treat my patients. It turns out just fundamentally expecting pretty much everyone to behave wildly irrationally with no warning is shockingly accurate.

I feel like this would be a really great basis for a forum-based RPG. (rowanrookanddecard.com)

I really miss old roleplaying forums where instead of being more “gamelike” you would more write a story together and the rules were more of a self governing expectation that people wouldn’t try to take over a story for themselves (which didn’t always work as intended). I remember being on one’s for everything from...

For leisure I use two monitors for creative endeavors like art and writing. I’ll keep the working piece on one monitor and the tools, references, color palettes, timeline, history or science influences, or whatever else have you on the other. At work the secretary has two monitors to view the electronic charting system on one screen and whatever other resources they need on the other (IT and repair tickets, the intranet, incident reports, the staffing schedule, etc).

I also often steal the two monitor setup when they’re at lunch to prep the morning assignments because to properly balance an assignment I have to consider lots of different pieces of information that are in a lot of different places for a little under 20 individual patients and 4-8 nurses and nursing assistants (them dayshift staffing numbers turn me green):

  • Whether any patients are being discharged (more work) - this could be anywhere from the unit summary board to the individual summary to me having to dig through the social worker notes. Sometimes they send an internal email with all the upcoming discharges so I have to open my work email.
  • Which patients have a sitter (often more behaviorally acute and the sitter has to be let up for lunch and other breaks. This is usually on the unit summary board assuming the assigned nurse checked the correct box in the flowsheets of the individual chart. This is also copied over from the previous assignment sheet but I have to make sure I remove any that the doctor discontinued and add any that were initiated.
  • Which nurse coming on shift did the least recent admission (if it’s their turn and I can’t split the patients evenly I’ll give them less). This is in a physical admission and discharge register book in a drawer at the secretary’s desk.
  • Who’s next shift’s charge. Ideally I want to give them less severe patients because they will have extra tasks (like this one). This is on the unit schedule which we can access through an online scheduling system.
  • Who is coming back from yesterday and which patients they had so I can give most or all of them back. Report will go faster and they will care for the patient more efficiently if they already know them. This is on the previous assignment sheet, but if the patient was admitted during that shift, they won’t be on the assignment sheet that was made just before that shift started. So I have to go into the notes and see which nurse wrote their admission note.
  • Any patient or staff specific conflicts or special situations. This is things like patients that are sex-selectively sexually inappropriate or aggressive (they will behave better if assigned a staff member not of their preferred or targeted gender) or a patient who is super prejudiced and I know they are likely to be abusive to certain coworkers, or a coworker who has had a particularity complicated case for two days in a row and if they get that patient again for day three they’ll snap. Sometimes these are in the digital handoff but more often they’re passed on in handwritten reports that are shredded immediately after use or passed on verbally to begin with.

So I’m consulting at least four different computer programs and between two and three paper records just to do this one task that I do every shift, and the medical record program does NOT like to share screen real estate.

Apytele,

Oh yeah the decision of whether to practically strip naked in the Walmart bathroom is a hard one, especially considering the higher likelihood that someone is attempting to covertly film me. You can also attempt to shift one side of the crotch to the side enough, but then you’re risking getting piss all over your clothes if you don’t do it well enough.

Apytele,

I don’t think so, because as stated in the post, I can still view posts older than 9 months from other subs from this server.

Apytele,

I can go elsewhere if I have to but I really have enjoyed the vibe of this server. It’s much more authoritative than the alternately authoritarian or laissez faire governance of other internet spaces, even within the fediverse. Y’all are not hotheads OR spineless and personally being in a field where that’s a critical trait for success I really see that here.

ime the best leaders get shit on for any decision because by simple logic if everyone agreed on something they’d probably just do it. Asking a leader almost by definition means someone isn’t going to like your answer, and the people who do often don’t say anything because they “expected you to do the right thing anyway” in a situation where in all likelihood all of the answers were wrong. I’ve been dealing with this at my job a lot lately. I like that overall people trust me and trust my instincts, but a lot of situations have had only wrong answers lately and I’m getting very tired. The leaders who don’t get shit on for their decisions are the ones who hide well enough (and they’re usually the absolute worst).

There’s a few very specific fields that peak at or around 18 and the list is basically certain sports, ballet, and sex work. Also this person looks like Edward Cullen but 10 years old.

Apytele,

Honestly I think AI will actually make a really cool tool for a lot of artists. They’ll be able to do things like focus on the core subject of the image and tell the ai to just put some grass over in that corner there and maybe a butterfly or something… nah a blue butterfly specifically so it goes with the models eyes. Or to help fill in minor NPCs in a video game or make the textures for the inside of openable crates. The part the big execs don’t understand is that you still need a human with a genuine and interesting idea. The AI is just the polish, and a polished turd is still a turd. And there will of course still be some kind of demand for media with the kind of attention to detail where every flower petal is hand painted. People still buy bespoke handbags and jeans and teapots and- literally anything.

To me the important part is making sure it’s a public resource. The cat is out of the bag and they’re not gonna stop. To me the most important thing now is making sure it’s something everyone has access to. A coworker also recently pointed out that making sure everyone has access to it means everyone knowing how it works. A lot of people are acting like this is some horrible evil thing to exist, but I would like to present the idea that it could be just as horrible and evil AND completely within the knowledge and under the control of the bourgeoisie.

Apytele,

Alternatively, they’re arguing that there’s better ways to try to stop slavery than depriving yourself, and simply paying more for something is inadequate. You may as well just buy the thing cheaper then focus on fighting for overall social change. The amount you pay for the object does not free those slaves, but you giving less of it to Nike’s CEO might help you conserve enough for yourself to give you better footing while fighting for those social changes

Now, I’m also interested to see how the actual math works out as to the labor and materials costs and whether or not various companies directly or indirectly utilize slave labor, and which systems really do ultimately deliver the most worker friendly conditions. I’m not sure how I would get that info or how to know who to trust (medical journals are the academic text I’m used to parsing ). But the philosophical argument itself has a lot more to it than “fuck them slaves.”

Apytele,

I was subscribed already; still doesn’t seem to be working yet thank you for trying and I’ll let you know if it does start working.

Apytele,

Oh so not much style in the prompt then, the model must have been doing the heavy lifting on that. Darn! I was looking for some words to try out with my other project.

Apytele,

I’m not sure I’m where you’re at yet, but every day I inch closer.

Apytele,

Also wetwipes, disposable menstrual products, and hair.
