Along with @maciejwolczyk we’ve been training a neural network that learns how to play NetHack, an old roguelike game, that looks like in the screenshot. Recently, something unexpected happened.
Usually a sign of multiprocessing/multithreading going wrong, e.g. accessing the same resource without proper locks like opening the same logfile in different processes and trying to write simultaneously. Those errors can be triggered just by reformating the code (or obfuscating in this case), thus changing the runtime behaviour slightly. Hard to find, especially since they’re dependent on the speed/workload of the machine running the code.
I like how you and the person you were answering to think. It opened a new perspective for me and showed me my bias. Thank you. Please continue to understand things that well and let others know about it. 😀

Das ganze Interview ist einfach Werbung a la “wir sind die geilsten” und “gebt uns alle Eure Daten”. Der Interviewer fragt ja auch nicht nach was der Quatsch bedeuten soll.
Nix davon ist “intelligent”. Es geht immer darum die statistisch häufigsten Merkmale oder wahrscheinlichsten Fortsetzungen zu finden.
An anderer Stelle im Interview behauptet er auf Kundendaten würde nicht trainiert, da diese durch " eine strenge Firewall" geschützt seien. Das ergibt ebensowenig Sinn. Daten sind kein Service (den man durch eine Firewall schützt).
Er benutzt anscheinend Wörter die er im Kontext gehört hat, deren tatsächliche Bedeutung er aber nicht kennt.

Cool post. Thanks. What hardware do you use for voice input/output? I hoped I could use a smart speaker from Sonos, or something similar. But I could not find a working solution and I have no time or interest in building hardware myself. The idea is having a wake word and mics/speakers in the different rooms. Ideally with voice recognition (i mean who is speaking). So I can ask something like: play my favourit music
You are aware that the impossible sections were on purpose to sell hint books and to make money with the telephone hintline which one could call being stuck?
The shower head in the picture is a bit unusual because of the two screws on the right where you can adjust the head. If you loosen the one next to the wall the shower head tilts down and faces the wall (which is nice if warm water takes a while and you don’t like a cold shower) and with the other one you could make it spray the opposite wall. So it’s pretty versatile. (Or annoying if the screws can’t be tightened enough)
Das ist jetzt nebenbei bemerkt nix neues. Ich habe vor mehr als 10 Jahren schon in einem Projekt gearbeitet wo es darum ging Bestellmengen besser vorherzusagen. Das wurde von mehreren großen Discountern eingesetzt. War auch nicht das erste System dieser Art. Nur war da gerade kein KI-Hype der durchs Dorf getrieben wurde. Dieser Spin “KI lässte arme Menschen hungern” geht mir auf den Sack. Als ob nicht jedes Unternehmen versucht Verluste zu vermeiden und als ob es nicht seit jahrzehnten Software dafür gibt.
Ich habe heute Morgen etwas Nachrichten gelesen. Insbesondere einen Artikel über Frauenhäuser und das Problem deren Finanzierung. “Hmm, da muss man wirklich was dran tun. Kann so nicht weitergehen” dachte Ich. Als ich dann, trotz besseren Wissens, in die Kommentare schaute erblickte ich dieses… Dieses… Stück....
Ich habe Dich dafür kritisiert jemandem was schlechtes zu wünschen, weil Du dessen Meinung nicht teilst. Das ist ziemlich unabhängig davon, ob die Dame nun recht hat oder nicht.
