ArmokGoB,

Copyright should be shorter. Everyone should also be given the money needed to live a decent life.

Yoda, crested gecko, frogbutt, and video enthusiast (lemmy.world)

This is our old guy, Yoda. He's super sweet, chill, enjoys pets, and will sit and watch a whole movie with you without getting squirrely or bored. We used to have his enclosure sitting on a desk where he had a great view of the tv, and noticed that he spent a lot of time watching what we did....

ArmokGoB,

Not good. I was there having a pint of stout, which was good.

ArmokGoB,

Fuck Reddit (the company and the website). Spez can suck it. The echo chamber mods can also suck it.

ArmokGoB,

Unexpectedly responsible and respectful.

ArmokGoB,

I played it every day for over a year when it came out. Ended up going to school to study generative methods.

ArmokGoB,

Yes. Even if it dies, I'm done with Reddit.

ArmokGoB,

Correct on both counts!

ArmokGoB,

Gold dust day geckos wear eye shadow

ArmokGoB,

My plan is to come up with some scheme that will allow me to move back there after I finish grad school.

Why would Reddit push users away from their app shortly before announcing API changes?

I can’t wrap my head around this, it seems so bizarre. The only reason I’m here now is because I joined Apollo right after Reddit changed its app to remove the sort by rising feature. It completely changed my experience on the app for the worse and I sought out an alternative, and I know I’m not the only one that had this...

ArmokGoB,

I'm of the opinion that they should try to start as many fires and destroy as much of the value of the website as possible, all the while directing people to alternative communities. It's not sustainable, but enough chaos and loss might cause the admins to reevaluate the risk of trying something like this in the future. There's a reason some animals evolved poison that only works after they're eaten.

What to do regarding "community squatters"?

EDIT: I want to clarify that the purpose of this post isn't to call anyone out in particular, and I think it's best to approach this issue with a gentle hand. Users who are doing this aren't necessarily ill intentioned, but may not realize the negative affect their actions may be having on the instance, hence why it's important...

ArmokGoB,

My current intent is to "garden"; to bootstrap the site with communities and then release them if they reach critical mass and have a competent moderation team (excluding me).

ArmokGoB,

I've had Reddit tell me that my social credit wasn't high enough to claim an abandoned subreddit, despite having an account that's almost 10 years old with 150k karma.

ArmokGoB,

The best thing about Guardians is that we're never truly beaten.
