Atomdude,

I think every word ever started out as something that was nonsense to everyone, except the first two people who used that word.

Trump may have defamed E. Jean Carroll again, one day after posting a $91.6 million bond for last case (www.cnbc.com)

Former President Donald Trump on Saturday stood by his 2019 statement that writer E. Jean Carroll made a “totally false accusation” against him, despite similar claims resulting in him losing a defamation case in January....

Atomdude,

How much would you charge for letting him do the same thing to your daughter?

Atomdude,

I dunno man, my TikTok algorithm is about the wokest, most informative news feed amongst them all.
Sometimes they try something new, and I have to train the algorithm a little again, but nothing too annoying.

Atomdude,

My daughter really loves my old S10e. Apart from the dwindling battery life, it’s still an awesome phone, capable of taking beautiful photos.

What games can you recommend that didn't get the appreciation that they deserved?

I’ve been recently been thinking about Arkane Studio’s Prey which is a immersive sim, with a pretty good rogue like dlc, that probably has one of the strongest hooks of any game I’ve played. If you liked Halflife, System Shock, or Deus Ex it’s definitely worth a play....

Atomdude,

Mad Max. Not the best game ever, but much better than I expected.

Atomdude,

The lighting and weather is so good in that game.

Atomdude,

I almost gave up in the beginning because I had never played a game that relied so much on hand to hand combat. I’m so glad I pushed through.

Atomdude,

I like the Orville, despite it’s clunkyness.

Atomdude,

I think the problem that needs to be solved is the distribution of wealth and how we value people the moment they aren’t producing stuff for their bosses. I just read that back and realize I’m a Marxist.

Atomdude,

It’s literally like language is a constantly changing thing.

Atomdude, (edited )

In all things I yearn for the past. Modern fashions seem to keep on growing more and more debased. I find that even among the splendid pieces of furniture built by our master cabinetmakers, those in the old forms are the most pleasing. And as for writing letters, surviving scraps from the past reveal how superb the phrasing used to be. The ordinary spoken language has also steadily coarsened. People used to say “raise the carriage shafts” “raise it” or "trim it."When they should say, “Let the men of the palace staff stand forth!” they say, “Torches! Let’s have some light!” Instead of calling the place where the lectures on the Sutra of the Golden Light are delivered before the emperor “the Hall of the Imperial Lecture,” they shorten it to “the Lecture Hal”, a deplorable corruption, an old gentleman complained.

Atomdude,

Holy shit, I did the same thing. I hadn’t heard from Klein in a couple of years and when I read something about Wolf I was really surprised, thinking it was that No Logo writer.

(Firefox) How do I change what happens if I click on a link on Lemmy's homepage?

My question is as follows: When I click a link on the main page, instead of opening a new tab in Firefox, it always takes me to the linked page in the same tab. I’ve tried changing settings in about:config, tried two different Firefox extensions to modify link behavior, but that resulted in a few unwanted events. I know I can...

Atomdude,

I don’t know how, but it does.

Atomdude,

Maybe it’s because my middle mouse button is wonky, sometimes it scrolls when I try to click. I just don’t like it.
But the main reason I ask is that I don’t get what makes some pages behave different; and what if I’d like to be able to make it act just the way I want? It’s just one of those things.

Atomdude,

I use the middle mouse button a lot, it’s just that I’m not used to a site not working ‘like it should’ (which is just my preference, I know). I mean, if Lemmy is a bulletin board or aggregate, I’m sort of expecting a certain type of behavior.

Atomdude,

Good to know. Thanks for the insight!

Atomdude,
Atomdude,

Thank you very much.
I also started using Alexandrite, thanks to that post!

Atomdude,

Redreader still works, apparently they could prove their indispensability for the blind community.

Atomdude,

I spend a lot of time on TikTok and once the algorithm knows what you like it’s a fantastic way to waste your time, the same way reddit and YouTube are.
