John Coltrane - Coltrane Plays the Blues is an album by jazz musician John Coltrane, released in July 1962 on Atlantic Records. It was recorded at Atlantic Studios during the sessions for My Favorite Things.

BassPlayer57,

@passthejoe It's my understanding that the tracks that would be released as Coltrane Plays The Blues were recorded at Atlantic Studio around and during the My Favorite Things session. After Coltrane had left Atlantic and was under contract with Impulse Records, Atlantic used these unissued recordings and released them without either Coltrane's input or approval.

BassPlayer57,

@SrRochardBunson I bought the studio album just days after it was released in 1973. I walked into a record store and it was playing. I stood there and listened to the whole album. It just blew me away and it still does to this day.
