Belastend,

Right, the fact finding mission couldn’t establish mass rapes (because no footage showed rape) or beheaded babies, but mass genital mutilation, injuries in the genital area consistent with rape and “attempted or complete beheadings of victims”.

Belastend,

Awww, are you sad the butcher of tehran finally met his end? Have you ever talked to any Iranian about the IRR?

Belastend,

Just to spread the good news: Irans President died in a helicopter crash today

Belastend,

To counter you anecdotal evidence: my partner fled from Iran 4 years ago and still has a lot of friends and family there. All of them would love see this regime fall, so much so, that her friends went out to protest One of them was arrested, tried and found guilty of corruption on earth. He was to not leave the country for five years and was threatened with an even harsher punishment, if he took part in protests again. He took to the streets the day after his release.

These people hate their government with a burning passion. Doesn’t matter what Israel does, they would love to see this occupational regime fall.

Belastend, (edited )

Are we calling out the qatari, bahraini and UAE assholes here aswell?

Belastend,

Based

Belastend,

literally now also means figuratively.

Over my dead body! Just because an authority says something unacceptable is acceptable doesn’t make it so. See also: the Israeli government committing genocide.

Maybe this isnt the right place to interject here: but yes, it now also means figuratively. Not because an authority said so, but because a sizable portion of native english speakers use it to mean figuratively. Thats how language works.

Belastend,

No, that is just how linguistics work. Language is decided descriptively, not prescriptively

Belastend,

And you will die on a linguistically untenable hill. Redefining words had happened throughout history and language hasnt died out and its not gotten worse.

Belastend,

The OED is, again, descriptive. They observe the change in meaning and update their description accordingly.

Belastend,

Ah yes, the many beatings of women wearing hijab in the western world, truly horrific

Belastend,

Their purpose is not the same.

Belastend,

Funny how suddenly iranian women can become white people. Funny how suddenly turkish people can be white people. Just keep playing the victim.

Belastend,

It is. Try sueing the police in coutries that incentivize coverups more, like Iran. You’ll just disappear.

Belastend,

There are different levels of trying. Any criminal tries to cover up their crimes, some go to more extreme measures than others. For example, when you raise the penalty for rape to the death penalty, more rapes turn into murders. Im not saying that you shouldnt punish police violence harder, I just think that there is always more cover up possible. The fact that people are even allowed to talk about this, shows that more Cover up is possible.

Belastend,

And i did not do that. I was replying to your claim, that “more cover up cant be possible”

Belastend,

Iran incentivized coverups in a very different way. I see that that didnt come across. Once again: if you think, it cant get worse in the coverup department than america, you are wrong.

It isnt even a cool idea. The city would be completely unusable: Most cities are somewhat circular to minize distances. The line maximes distances. No organic city growth, instead you have an extremely limiting footprint that allows no out ward expansion. Narrow street and high rise buildings sound like an absolut nightmare to me.

And dont get me started on all of the “artificial moon, robot dinosaur, human gene editing” bullshit.

Belastend,

If your solution to ethnic cleansing is ethnic cleansing, that solution might suck.

What linguistic constructions do you hate that no one else seems to mind?

It bugs me when people say “the thing is is that” (if you listen for it, you’ll start hearing it… or maybe that’s something that people only do in my area.) (“What the thing is is that…” is fine. But “the thing is is that…” bugs me.)...

Belastend,

Its not even an error. The majority of english speakers wont use “whom” in that spot, so its not an error anymore.

Belastend,

Dont you mean: doooble o?
