Me just quietly waiting for AMD to get competitive with ray tracing

I don’t envy the space that fighting games are in. They need to make games that run extremely well on hardware to remain competitive but also need great graphics capability while still having a varied move set with plenty of effects.

And RAM is not scaling the same as storage or graphics so that’s why this is happening.

Yes but at least the blood will be easier to wipe off of the stainless steel.

Hi, they aren’t. I browse by Hot on All or Local specifically to discover niche and active communities. The memes I see on Lemmy are actually higher quality compared to Reddit, mostly due to the older user base here. Bonus points that we don’t have extremely toxic communities like dankmemes yet. So overall, that’s much much better for me. Even if the content was dog water, I’d still be happy about the absence of toxicity and everyone enjoying a semi-lame repetitive joke.

You will not beat the song about gods perspective by Bo Burnham. It’s comedy but it’s both beautiful and brilliant.

Let us all remember that one time that they thought that monetizing the mods was a good idea and a massive amount of Steam users demolished them online. Like oh you want to make awful games, make that money, then have modders make cool content that makes it worth playing, and then have the balls to ask for a cut of what they’re selling it for?

And guess what? They still do that. And the fallout 76 store and subscription is something I will never forget.

I don’t get why these people say that both parties are fascist because I entirely agree that while Dems in the long term become similar, just with different values, it’s unclear to me how that muddies the political waters.

What people seem to be saying is that even if I vote left every time and even if leftist ideas take more hold, the right will still exist and both parties will swing us right regardless.

I fundamentally disagree. The very very first thing we have to do is make the current state of the right deeply unpopular. What I want to hear is far more Dems saying “this party has gone too far left, I’m republican now” and purifying the left by leaving. I want Dems and republicans competing in that way where conservative Dems slowly bleed to the other side. And then we vote further and further left until we become sensible.

Do I see that happening? Absolutely. But this next point is critical. I realize the meme about every election being critical. But this one truly is. America decides in a year: Fascism or no?

But I’d argue this election isn’t as important as the ones after it. Even if America re-elects trump, he can only do so much to slide us toward fascism(not to minimize). But if his re-election doesn’t cause outrage and huge political shifts, we’re doomed. Two republican victories in a row and this country topples in a big way.

I have some hopes for him being jailed to some extent mostly because of his mugshot. As others have pointed out, you’d have to do a lot of law bending to find a reason to not put him in an actual jail. The only thing potentially saving him is the secret service citing security risks at a normal jail or prison. But we have VIP prison cells in most states for this reason. He can be jailed, he just won’t see other prisoners.

That’s especially true because Georgia has its hands on him and that case will almost certainly end up with him guilty. So we either get riots because he gets to rest easy under house arrests or he gets treated like an actual prisoner. But there’s zero way to keep him out of serious punishment in a hostile state without turning laws into taffy.

That’s it basically. Georgia is doing something huge here. They may be the first court to try and jail him and that can break things down far before the election. Violence will immediately ensue no matter what happens. Because if he goes to jail, protests break out. If he doesn’t, a lot of people should justifiably riot.

CleoTheWizard,

I don’t expect a former president to get the same treatment as me. I expect them to have it better since our nation somewhat depends on them not being treated better.

Especially currently, the judges are very smart in not pursuing apt punishment for his small infractions. Their eye is on the ultimate justice here. Because small punishments only stoke the fires. Small punishments make this look petty and weak and as if they want to get him for anything and everything.

Will people still think that? Yes. But the image of these particular cases is far more important to justice than violations of gag orders.

Just keep that in mind. Going after him for every small thing is more likely to cause further injustice in the nation if he wins election.

How do I defederate from this specific user?

The Supreme Court Needs to Decide These Trump Cases ASAP to Prevent a Jan. 6 Repeat (slate.com)

In short, when the Colorado and Minnesota cases arrive in Washington, the Supreme Court will confront a desperate race against time. If it fails to decide the cases rapidly, it will provoke a constitutional crisis once the polls close and each state decides who won the election. Under current law, state legislatures must report...

CleoTheWizard,
@CleoTheWizard@lemmy.world avatar

You say that but the conservative justices clearly have powerful perks from rich republican donors. The agenda isn’t set by trump, it’s set by those who like him upon others. So I’d give it a 0% chance of the Supreme Court stepping in. Even aside from this issue, they want us to decide.

Is there any way to adapt this better for polyamorous people? I have poly friends that got around it by choosing a primary partner and marrying them, but that seems like a bad solution in the long term.

For anyone wondering how this breaks down logically and where the error is:

The position as put here and elsewhere contains logical errors upon clarification. God has parts? Okay what makes the parts unique and discrete? If they aren’t, they aren’t parts of a whole and are equal to the whole.

For example: does the father have the same knowledge as the spirit? The same powers? If yes to these and similar questions, then they all are god and are not discrete. If no, then we don’t have one god at all, we have 3 gods. Also if no, the gods cannot be all knowing or all powerful individually.

I’ve never heard it put like this comment though. Instead I hear that they’re all god. As in, Jesus isn’t 1/3 of god, he is god. And so is the spirit/ghost and father. But if I ask if Jesus is the spirit, they’ll say no. This is an identity flaw. You’re saying that A=D and C=D but A!=C.

CleoTheWizard,
@CleoTheWizard@lemmy.world avatar

These are interchangeable, the trinity is not. Your house is/can be a home, storage, dump, but a home can be storage and storage can be a dump.

The claims of the trinity are that the son, father, and ghost are all god. But the ghost is not the son is not the father.

It’s an identity contradiction. A,B, and C all equal D. But A is not B is not C. The claim IS NOT A + B + C = D which would actually make sense and works with your analogy. Like yes my house is a dump + storage + home. That works. Does not work with the trinity.

Not positive, but I believe other countries often refer to American style bacon as streaky bacon due to the ratio of fat on the slices.

Looking through that list is a trip, I knew Ubisoft produced a lot of farmed out and low quality game sequels, but I had no idea there were this many.

And reading the list, I’d say a solid 75% I’ve either never heard of or I know that they’ve flopped. Not to mention the whole NFT thing they grifted onto. This is why no one wants to buy them. They’re of buyable size, but everyone steers far clear because I’d bet that assassins creed and rainbow six are their only money makers.

Rip. And. Tear.

Currently working my way through Doom Eternal and I think it’s one of the best first person shooters I’ve ever played. If you ever even touch a FPS game, you’ve gotta play this. The music alone is worth the price of admission.

Side projects I have are Tails Noir, It Takes Two (also an incredible game imo), and Crash Nitro Kart. I have Nitro Kart on a bit of pause since the steam deck can’t emulate it well. Will have to move emulation and saves over to my PC sometime.

All you really need from this is Train Valley 2. Super addicting puzzle game, though I don’t recommend playing with a normal controller.

You’re both having entirely the wrong conversation. Similarly to science in those periods, it is nearly impossible to split the two. It is also unimportant.

Religion was often the motivation for scientific theories or study. Many of the early scientists investigated the natural world because they viewed it as a way to understand god/gods. Religion was fundamental to early science, but importantly, it is not a necessary feature of religion. Take astrology for instance, it was both a religious or supernatural exploration and also a somewhat scientific one. Astronomy was later taken out of it while ditching the baggage. To say that we should always have just had astronomy is like saying we always should’ve just had the iPhone. It took progress to get there. Religion was part of that progress until it wasn’t.

Same thing here. Morality is discoverable and reasonable. Early religion WAS morality. It’s like if I say to my toddler that Santa watches to see if they’re naughty. We don’t need to do that. But if I say that a story of Santa didn’t contribute to their morality as an adult, I’d be lying to myself.

All this to say, early morality and religion are inseparable. People followed the rulers that you spoke of because they claimed to be religiously appointed. It contributed to order. Is it necessary? We now know that it isn’t. But that’s why it doesn’t matter. It was used back then and it was effective because for better and for worse, it helped cooperation within a population.
