CmdrShepard,

As if giving it all to Comcast and Spectrum for the 47th time will make things any better? Starlink is actually something accessible for a lot of these people, while legacy ISPs just pocket the money and claim its too hard to serve rural customers.

CmdrShepard,

Look at that, without us even providing you any money you’ve already admitted that you regularly grocery shop. That’s going in your file.

CmdrShepard,

The photo orientation makes it look like you’re pulling the cat out of your car’s HVAC system.

CmdrShepard,

This guy is under an FBI investigation and felony fraud charges. He is ignoring the court because he holds a criminal mindset and has zero respect for the law.

Bill Gates thinks of himself as 'very nice' compared to Elon Musk and Steve Jobs (www.businessinsider.com)

Bill Gates name-checked Elon Musk and Steve Jobs during a fireside chat on Thursday. The Microsoft founder said he considers himself “very nice” compared to his fellow tech leaders. But Gates acknowledged that a certain level of intensity is required in innovative fields. Bill Gates said he considers himself a more relaxed...

CmdrShepard,

Nah, he’s just used more of his money to whitewash his image with articles such as this. When you peek behind the curtain, he’s just as ruthless as the others.

CmdrShepard,

I’ve been eyeing an Ioniq 5 for about 18 months now and just checked local pricing again and they haven’t budged an inch on pricing (even now with 2024 models being sold with 2023 models left on the lot) nor are they even carrying inventory outside of the most expensive trim packages of Limited AWD. I’m interested in range, so I’m wanting a Limited RWD but they aren’t being stocked.

This article screams “I’m not doing my job and it’s all your fault!”

CmdrShepard,

Reminds me of Russia’s failed attempt to demonstrate that Nazis were in Ukraine by releasing photos of a ‘bust’ that was obviously staged and includes gems like multiple copies of The Sims video game which were supposed to be sim cards.

nypost.com/…/russia-appears-to-confuse-the-sims-f…

CmdrShepard, (edited )

Seems interesting but it has the stink of “buzzword marketing” all over it. The example given in the article about using it for wake words is just using a microphone connected to the device. Microphones and speakers are both analog devices that all digital phones have already. Also the fact that it’s an IC that’s programmable leads me to believe it’s not analog at all, or else how can it be programmed?

I also thought it was funny to talk about environmental damage from all these digital sensors and then using thermometers filled with mercury as an example of an analog sensor. Mercury is a heavy metal and extremely toxic to most lifeforms, which is why we don’t use it in thermometers anymore.

CmdrShepard,

More like:

“We are grossly overcharging for our product and nobody is buying… Obviously nobody wants an EV!"

CmdrShepard,

I think it’s less about industry lobbying and more an unwillingness for these governments to actually do what needs to be done to reduce the roadblocks needed for an outright ban on new ICE vehicles.

There doesn’t seem to be much of push to get infrastructure like charging stations in place and it seems they thought it was a ‘reverse Field of Dreams’ where “if you come, they will build it.” Charging stations and grid upgrades aren’t going to appear out of the ether simply because some politicians want to ban ICE vehicles. I don’t know the situation in the EU, but here in the US, most of our charging stations are built by Tesla or VW (under the Electrify America name as a punishment for dieselgate). Tesla charging stations aren’t abundant everywhere and VW seems more than happy to let their charging stations become dilapidated and antiquated as they’re not building them willingly to begin with. There are many parts of the country where your only option to charge is a 120/240V outlet, which output as little as 3-4 miles per hour of charge. This isn’t the way forward and it’ll likely take government incentives to make it happen.

CmdrShepard,

Dude Taco Bell is one of the worst offenders. I don’t eat there anymore but I know they’re charging up the ass for rice, beans, and what can only be described as meat product that barely meets the legal definition of “beef.”

Louisiana public school principal apologizes after punishing student for dancing at a party (apnews.com)

The 17-year-old student government president and scholarship candidate was videotaped dancing at an off-campus party following Walker High School’s Sept. 30 Homecoming festivities. A hired DJ took the video and posted it on social media. Three days later, Jason St. Pierre, principal of the public high school near the state...

CmdrShepard,

Not only that, but a girl who clearly has her shit together and is doing all the right things to be elected class president and scholarship candidate.

CmdrShepard,

“When you are asked to conform … and give up something for the betterment of the whole, there is a psychological benefit,” Poole said. “We need more teaching (of) sacrifice.”

How does this dude not realize that also applies to his school district and their stupid outdated rules about hair length?

Would you be buried alive for 48hr for a million dollars?

You are buried in a coffin 6ft deep, with no light or cell phone. There is only a small tube connected to the coffin from outside that allows you to breathe (edit: you can breathe with no difficulty). After 48 hours, you are dug up and given 1 million dollars. Do you do it?...

CmdrShepard,

Could I hire a guy and pay him 48 hours of minimum wage to lay in the coffin for me and then collect the million dollars at the end? I think I just invented capitalism.

CmdrShepard,

I dunno I see a lot of cars on my commute that could use a driver update…

CmdrShepard,

We’ll probably see them lobbying to give ISPs additional taxpayer funds to ‘expand’ broadband access while redefining broadband to be anything above 150Kbps.

YSK that restroom hand dryers blow fecal bacteria onto your hands (journals.asm.org)

There was a peer-reviewed report published in the journal for Applied and Environmental Microbiology that studied the amount of bacteria that was blown from hand dryers in 36 public restrooms at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. The sample from the study concluded that as many as 60 colonies of bacteria were...

CmdrShepard,

I’m pretty sure that regardless of where you are or what you’re doing, fecal matter is getting blown on your hands. Mythbusters tested this out once by putting tooth brushes all over their shop and then culturing the bacteria from them. IIRC the ones that were in the bathroom had the least amount of fecal matter.

CmdrShepard,

Which seems to imply that by agreeing to their TOS, you are giving consent for them to use this.

CmdrShepard,

The one who was able to afford a year of college after working a single part-time job over the summer?

CmdrShepard,

You can argue its misleading but I disagree. Outsourcing bad behavior to a third party doesn’t remove culpability on your part. This is all to common these days and allows both parties to point fingers at each other while nobody faces any responsibility for breaking the law, violating people’s rights, and/or unethical behavior.

The FBI just using assumptions and impressions on methodologies used by the company they contracted with is no excuse when they could have asked how the work was going to be performed. Incompetence is no excuse either.

CmdrShepard,

Looks like it didn’t work. We can’t see your post.

CmdrShepard,

That’d be great. Currently 90% of my feed is /c/memes and while I do find them entertaining, I also miss a ton of posts from smaller communities related to my hobbies that I would engage with more.

CmdrShepard,

Your corrosion issue is due to dissimilar metals which, when in contact with one another, begin corroding immediately. They chose those materials knowing full well what would happen.

Their appliances are absolute garbage and I’ve read that many repair places refuse to work on them because they’re built so poorly.
