    @Teri_Kanefield how much time and energy are you willing to put into constantly weeding your social media garden?

    @Teri_Kanefield I'll be curious to see the outcome of all the various experiments and am glad you're willing to share the process of yours.

    @mepurfield @actuallyautistic I don't think it's a useful phrase anymore. The word love has been over used and abused to the point where it's become meaningless. There are so many other phrases that people can use to relay fondness, respect, admiration, desire, etc. Love isn't a statement, it's a way of being.

    @NatureMC I've had a few MRI experiences and I do not like small spaces. I relied on my meditation/breathing practices. I pictured the Strength card in the tarot with the woman calming the lion. I imagined my fear was the lion and that the rest of me was the calming influence. I reminded my fear that it was OK to trust my decision to do this and that we would be safe. During my most recent MRI, I actually almost fell asleep.

    @Teri_Kanefield To be honest, it was a little strange not to have influencers here at first. Now, I am so delighted to be interacting with other plain folks like me. I can drop in to that other place from time to time but this is my new playground. I'm entirely uninterested in Bluesky for so many reasons: Jack and his politics, their policies, AI training on user posts, and so much more. I wonder if the influencers will just hang out with each other. 😁

    @theautisticcoach @actuallyautistic @actuallyautistics I never feel rested after sleeping but oddly, I do after my mini naps. Summer is worst because my dog wakes me up to go outside as soon as she notices the sky turning light, which is at about 4:30 or 5am right now.

    How old were you when you understood that you’re ?

    While I was 3 when I received my diagnosis, it wasn’t until years later that I knew what it was and even more until I had internalized what it meant. Approaching my 4th decade, I’m still figuring it out.

    @theautisticcoach @actuallyautistic @actuallyautistics I was 62 when I suspected and 63 when I was formally diagnosed by a clinical psychologist. I'm 65 now and still processing. I feel like my entire life was explained in one moment. I embrace the diagnosis completely and I am still figuring out what it means and how to dance with this new understanding.

    Do my comrades consider themselves to have a "low" pain tolerance, but in fact, have been shown to have a high one?

    @theautisticcoach @actuallyautistic @actuallyautistics My ongoing pain fades to the background after a while. Apparently, I've had a headache for quite some time. I've had fibromyalgia for about 30 years and ... I just got used to pain. But I have a low tolerance for new and sudden pain.

    Do my comrades start their convos with the dog or their dog’s owner?

    @actuallyautistic @actuallyautistics

    CuriousMagpie,
    @CuriousMagpie@mastodon.social avatar

    @theautisticcoach @actuallyautistic @actuallyautistics I always chat with the dog (hey little buddy!) and sometimes - but not always - the accompanying human. Sometimes humans are more work than I can deal with.

    I'm a passionate believer in the power of intentionally autistic open and affirming spaces to change the lives of people. Anyone who has been in one "in the wild" or online knows what I'm talking about.

    My online groups focus on self-advocacy, learning about your autistic traits and how to best use them for navigating the world, the concepts of masking & unmasking, managing meltdowns, shutdowns, and burnout, and more practical and theoretical frameworks for living in the NT world.

    I am offering 15% off my 5-week life coaching groups so that everyone who wants to participate can do so.

    @theautisticcoach @actuallyautistic @actuallyautistics Thank you Matthew for your eloquent, heartfelt, and courageous thread. You've always been a support to me on social media as I have come to terms with my own diagnosis (three years ago at 62). I so appreciate everything you pour into the autistic community.
