I’m not sure if Lemmy, kbin, or something else will work out to be the community favorite, so I’m trying out both and would encourage others to do the same....
Trying out both… Nothing wrong with trying out things, but (coming from deddit) this is my problem with the fediverse. You can easily end up with two or more flashlight communities that have a lot of the posts in common, as the content creators may make the effort to post in multiple communities, but many commenters wont do that so each replicated post will have its own comment stream. Hopefully, things will get better once the federation between lemmy and kbin works as intended. At the moment, i can see the kbin posts, but cant vote or comment, or subscribe it seems
Edit: that icon disappears when switching to compact mode. Which I use because I don’t like the large images on some posts. It often leaves me with only two posts visible in my feed: https://i.imgur.com/x91R2Vn.jpg
Hey. Just a quick shout-out to the devs at Memmy for helping me have a fun introduction to Lemmy and the growing world of the Fediverse. Really love what you’re doing, so thanks!

I initially had a similar reaction, as ‘active users’ in the title makes it look like you are stating a fact. ‘Reported active users’ in the title would have given a suggestion that you are (rightly) questioning the number.
Two of the three said there was “a reluctance among junior staff to complain to managers about the conduct of high-profile colleagues in case it adversely affected their careers,”
Sounds like the Beeb have a problem with their internal culture and complaints procedure. In other words, things like this will happen again.
Hello everyone I figured i’ll make this a regular post when a new update hits the public channel. (also if anyone has anything to add feel free to comment) Now in no particular order:...
New version is working well. Don’t need to log in all the time anymore. Profile page looks better. Just wish there was an option to get the old icon back, i liked it. Had some problems with the option to use default browser (firefox on ios), links are not opening). Still on my wishlist: mark inbox items as read once i have read them. Dont like the extra click needed. Edit: still getting a bonus extra upvote when creating a comment.
I feel like if you scroll through any area outside of the fediverse you will here MASTODON SUCKKKKS OMG I HATE IT SO MUCH, it’s gonna fail. or comments saying mastodon will only exist for another year tops. Keep in mind I know in terms of microblogging apps for the fediverse mastodon is not the best, calckey is likely the best...
Not sure where you got that impression. I recently joined Lemmy after reddit exceeded my tolerance for suckiness and bullshit. I still use reddit occasionally (my 3rd party app still works) and i have only ever seen people posting suggestions to move to the fediverse, not posting that lemmy/mastodon are bad. There is a lack of mature apps (memmy is the only ios one i think) but this will improve no doubt. I think the main long term risk is around funding. Hosting a popular instance will quickly get more expensive as the userbase grows.
And increasing the power available to every house, lamp post and car park is a big problem. It requires more investment than most utility companies are willing/able to make

Is it planned to mark posts as read on scroll past them?
That would be a much appreciated feature.
