Yeah ! Yippie ! Montréal finally gets its grey alert for wednesday's snow. 10 to 20-cm. At present, the grey alerts cover only Québec. So Hull gets 10-20cm of snow, but Ottawa gets nothing 😉

If I were head of STM, I would collect station announcements from metro systems around the world and on morning of April 1, substitute each Montreal station announcement with that of a station in another city. Big question is where to put Tsim Sha Tsui? New York’s 42nd announcements with long list of connecting lines would be for Berri.

@heliomass @jfmezei I used to work on Nuns’ Island, but the REM would have had 0 impact on my commute.

Because I have to transfer to exo’s line 12, it was way too long compared to using a car.

(P.S.: STM line 12 used to go to LaSalle before being transferred to De l’Église about 12 years ago).

@jfmezei @heliomass Thr STM did consult Nuns’ Island residents in 2020 (when I used to live there) to tell us: yeah, too late, we have already decided.

That’s why they rolled back many of the changes to the 168.

@jfmezei @heliomass Yeah. I tried to trace the path to St-Jerome last night; I noticed the QTM signs at some crossings.

I was surprised to see the signs by the QMT. I would have expected either the CN or Government of Canada instead, because of the YMX link.

@heliomass The big central atrium at Place Bonaventure. The yellow arrow points to where the doors to the train platforms are/were. There were steps between that floor and the carpeted level in middle, and stairs/escalators between the middle and main shopping level.

This is one of those things that, when you find it, is such a little delight. My wife is obsessed with Formula 1 and I learned recently that they offer an official ICS feed for the entire 2024 season, so we have it in our calendars now and can plan for race day meals, etc.

I was subscribed to their calendar since 2019. And usually, it rolls over, so your 2024 calendar should be valid for 2025 as well.

Québec government confirms our bridges are not ar risk. But the portion of Jacques Cartier over the seaway has pylons dangerously closed to where an off course ship could hit. The Pont Laviolette at Trois Rivières also has pylons in the way, but appear better protected.

A couple of Gare Centrale observations for those interested:

  1. You can use the REM platforms as a shortcut from Gare Centrale’s concourse to Bonaventure. Your single registers as a transfer going through the Metro gates after the REM, so you only pay once.

  2. There was a large queue of people in Place Bonaventure waiting for people to come out of the REM through the fire doors so they could enter. It’s madness this isn’t an official exit. I don’t know how they screwed this up.
