Remind me again about how whitelisting antivirus is “too restrictive” and gives you “too many false positives”
When a whitelisting antivirus makes a mistake, it’s a minor inconvenience…When regular antivirus doesn’t have a zero-hour data stealer in the database there on the system being hit with it…you get what we see above.
[Edit: With guidance from Proton Support, I switched VPN protocols in the application’s preferences menu (protonvpn.com/…/how-to-change-vpn-protocols/), from IKEv2 to Smart, and afterwards I started seeing ads and trackers (etc.) blocked on the application’s GUI again. I’ll post any other relevant info I learn of here.]...
I’ve noticed that the ad-blocking in most VPNs can’t stop most advertisements from loading. Edit…However, I’ve been using the adblocking in proton for a long time now and even when I did a trial run without adguard installed, I noticed that zero ads loaded in windows and the count of how many things got blocked was really high in a matter of minutes every time I made a new connection to one of proton’s servers…edit end
I’d recommend adding adguard for desktop to your setup. There’s a lifetime license available $80 USD for 3 devices on the lifetime plan…
Maybe even start using brave browser with brave’s adblocking and fingerprint blocking set to aggressive as well as adguard for desktop.
Hey OP! I edited what I said before. Adguard for desktop would be great as an extra layer of protection for the adblocking and malware blocking proton gives you.
Not only does it allow the banks to monitor everything we buy, not only does it allow the banks to lock us out of society if we don’t obey, but it’s also hackable.
I said all this because the nanny-state known as Australia went cashless recently and implemented digital currency made by the banks
Crypto by its nature is somewhat murky and we’ve never really known who hold what or how many whale institutional investors have been pumping and dumping coins to circumvent troubling anti money laundering KYC regs etc
Many crypto currencies that no one has ever heard of are worthless and will always be worthless, but bitcoin, manero and dogecoin are worth something. bitcoin and manero are worth A LOT, dogecoin is worth almost nothing, but its value goes up and down really fast and really drastically every time it changes.
Also it’s a good thing that no one can track who has what amounts of which crypto currency, don’t you think? That way the banks can’t monitor or control it.
Anyone else have issues with the extension on privacy hardened Firefox. I’m using arkenfox’s settings ( github.com/arkenfox/user.js/wiki/2.1-User.js ) but I can’t figure out which one stops the extension from retaining credentials

Actually. Zero trust and whitelisting applications can help a lot with APT typed malware. Because it doesn’t need prior knowledge of a threat to protect you from it.
Yes, Proton Drive for Linux is currently not being actively worked on/update: they lack developers, see post
