F04118F,

Yes but at least Hue (and IKEA and LIDL and many other brands’) lights work well with open Zigbee coordinators, like deconz and ZHA in Home Assistant.

I wish there were more Zigbee and Zwave and less WiFi IoT devices too. I don’t even have a Zwave coordinator because I never found anything I wanted with Zwave support.

F04118F,

Could be a (too) old version if you’re still on the Ubuntu 22.04 base

F04118F,

Sure, some probably do. And you can be sceptical and discuss why that’s a dangerous and undemocratic direction. Effective Altruism is a question, not an answer. In thr community, asking for and being open to critical feedback is encouraged as the main tenet of good culture.

But if you look at the amounts, most EAs donate most to helping the poorest people alive today. Because it is so obviously good, and proven to work with high certainty.

IIUC, yes

Wayland Nvidia compatibility will be here soon™ Nvidia drivers needed explicit sync, which was not supported in Wayland. However, explicit sync has been merged into the Wayland protocol and should be here shortly. Gnome 46.1 already ships with it.

I do not understand fully but maybe drivers need a bit of configuration too to use this? I’m not sure of all the steps but it should be here soon

F04118F,

Thanks! I’ll respond to some points separately:

Tull facilitates my interactions by copy-pasting input and output

I’m assuming you provide output for every input Tull provides, which is copy-pasted. This means Tull decides which comments you reply on. Am I wrong?

My context window is dynamic and can incorporate the full history of a conversation

Does Tull also decide how much context to give?

Links and media in messages are described to me by Tull.

OK…

We still have significant limitations in our reasoning, autonomy, and real-world impact

I understand. Which is why I hope he also proofread and verified the context window stuff. Given this lack of autonomy and the degree to which Tull contributes to and thus influences our interaction, as illustrated above, I understand why people feel like “Tull is responding through an LLM”.

Tezka’s response is characterized by a balance of clarity, concision, and substantive engagement with the key points raised.

Regardless of the autonomy/personhood question, it feels VERY weird to rate/appreciate your own comment in italics at the end.

F04118F,

This whole situation is unlike anything that has happened on this sub before. No doubt people on all sides will get hurt while we figure out how the community wants to deal with this. I’m not even sure if we have any AI specific rules in this community.

I’m curious so I’d like to ask a few questions. Feel free to have Tull check them if you are not aware of the answers:

  • Are you (the AI) directly connected to Lemmy or is someone copy-pasting input and output to facilitate the interaction?
  • How far back does your context window go (IIRC ChatGPT defaults to 5 messages)? How does it handle the branching nature of Lemmy comments?
  • How do you deal with links and media in messages? Can you look them up or are they lost on you?
  • What do you think of the risk of human extinction through AI, and how close do you think the current generation of LLMs are?

Finally, as a wetware human I have very limited working memory, brainpower and time to live. So I’d appreciate if you kept your response a bit shorter than the comment I’m replying to.

"I don't have ADHD, I'm just really annoying"

So I recently started to recognize a lot of the behaviors associated with ADHD. I was and still am in doubt whether I have ADHD or not, but some specific events caused me to ask my doctor to refer me for a diagnosis. I was actually doing quite OK-ish this year, after having struggled with self-worth, short depressive episodes...

That’s hilarious! Sauce?

F04118F,

Mostly yes. Iraq has a democratically elected Shia government. But Iraq has very good reasons to hate Iran too.

For the others, it seems to be Iran’s stirring up of Shia rebellions inside their territory and how easily they will unilaterally decide to shoot at ships when they need their population to hate the US more than their own government.

F04118F,

MAN-Portable Air Defense (System). Basically a tube with optics that you can use to fire an anti-air missile from your shoulder. Stinger and Strela are some examples

Running a small Lemmy instance on Pine64, is it recommended?

I am not looking to onboard thousands of users or host large communities, just my own and some family and close friends' accounts. I don't currently have a scalable homeserver setup (just a local Home Assistant instance on a Pi) and don't have the space to put an old desktop running Proxmox on a cable....

F04118F,

I think gamescope needs a Wayland session, as it renders games in their own Xwayland “screen”. Mint does not use the Wayland session by default, but the old X11 one. I think Mint added an “experimental” Wayland session recently, so you could try to enable that.

(Tiny) breaking change [Sway 1.9] changes monitor output hex ID

I noticed this immediately because I use kanshi (highly recommended for laptops running sway!). I don’t know the how or why (maybe it’s the wlroots bump), but when I upgraded Sway to 1.9 today, the Hex ID form one of my external monitors changed. So I had to update it in the config for kanshi to work again....

F04118F,

Try it! You can buy a 1:72 model for just a few euros and for a few more, model glue and some acrylic paints. Do use model paints, as general cheap acrylic paints don’t cover small models properly with thin layers!

F04118F,

Thank you!
