He will.

I hate to say it, but I think it’s going to happen.

The problem isn’t the system, the problem is that most people don’t agree with you

I think this is objectively untrue, as evidenced by the rampant “lesser of two evils” analogies that fly every single election season.

The problem is that, absent a homegrown terrorist event or a presidential assassination (neither of which I condone, mind you) the people are effectively powerless in the face of the stranglehold the oligarchy has on our government.

But, the people have gone all Blair Mountain before. It could happen again I suppose.

If you’re a wage earner, a minority, a woman, or just simply don’t fit conventional American culture, it’s openly fascist to you. Hell, Idaho got away with criminalizing abortion, which means 2/3 of the states will follow.

There aren’t any concentration camps that we know of, at least not yet, but I am sure that will change when Trump is reelected in November and every fascist thing he’s done is vindicated.

The news is owned by billionaires.

And, as long as we keep voting for the two ruling parties, it’s going to stay that way.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

You can vote, but at this point, it’s objectively clear that (at least at the federal level) your vote is meaningless.

FlashMobOfOne,

So nice that, now that I no longer use Twitter, I don’t generally have to hear Ann Coulter’s bullshit.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

Not only that. People think her racist hate speech should be protected under the First Amendment.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

Oh yes.

I’m guessing you also think that, in order for free enterprise to exist, we have to allow American companies to pollute rivers at will too.

Makes total sense.

Free speech is not an absolute right under the law and absolutely should not be. There are innumerable examples why. Try threatening a judge if you think otherwise.

I got so lucky in 2012 at Comikaze.

Mark Hamill was promoting an indie film he’d done on a main stage panel and did a Joker monologue live. It was so, so cool!

Found a snippet of it on YouTube.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

That’s so cool!

I was in the back left facing the stage, far away from whoever made this video, but it was my first comicon in LA and I had so much fun. I barely even looked at the panel schedule so wandering into that was serendipitous in the extreme.

I spent the day wandering in and out of b movie screenings and meeting Stan Lee. It was such a cool day.

My monthly grocery bill doubled between 2020 and 2024. As you’re all aware, wages haven’t changed much at all for most of the country, so the massive increases in rent and grocery bills are going to be a huge problem for the incumbents this election season.

I canceled my sub when they announced that paid Prime memberships would still have to view ads.

I use it exceedingly rarely now, thankfully, and without a sub you have to wait a week for something to arrive anyway, so I just expect it to be shit service.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

I mean, we tried.

Even burned some towns down a few years ago.

Protesting doesn’t work.

FlashMobOfOne,

If we had a functioning government they’d already be bankrupt or in the hands of a legit oversight authority, rather than allowed to continue to run a blatantly corrupt and dangerous enterprise.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

You say “should” like we don’t keep electing all the politicians who don’t give a crap about wages.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

You know they’ve probably considered that.

Luckily for us, nonverbal communication is far more effective.

I can't sit on the couch anymore without one (or both) of these goobers requesting a blanket fort. If they're desperate enough for a fix they'll even share (programming.dev)

I would recommend everyone try this. Just sit down, bend your knees, throw a blanket over, and show them the entrance. Just be warned they will not leave unless you make them

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

That’s what you get for selling your soul to those glorious, furry, dark goober gods.

Oddly enough, in a way, he’s right.

Democrats’ response to Roe repeal news was to fundraise. They pulled in a cool $80,000,000.

Democrats are never going to codify Roe because it’s just too lucrative an issue. It’s the same reason why Republicans will make sure we always have a so-called border crisis.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

It’s pointless because it’s their golden goose. It’s only a states-rights issue because it was never legislated at the federal level, even when the Dems had a supermajority.

FlashMobOfOne, (edited )
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

The process to amend the constitution is far more complicated than passing a federal law. SCOTUS effectively blocked any federal law in their ruling that said it is a states’ rights issue.

You’re right, Jeff.

It’s just too hard to do. We shouldn’t expect better. How silly of me to think Democrats might do what they promise one day.

You might have noticed. It’s kind of our thing, doing things differently from the rest of the world for no good reason.

Different measuring system

Different cars

Different health care system

Different social ethics

Different system of government

Very few trains

We’re just a bunch of silly dumbasses here.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

Most of our people are that way. Our arrogance in this stupid notion of American Exceptionalism holds us back, and too many of us are too stupid to realize it.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

This excuse, to me, seems to emphasize the necessity of a third-party vote even more.
