It’s not that simple for everyone. Some of the studios that wound down in the last year did so because they couldn’t find funding from publishers, due to the general lack of investment. It’s not easy to run a games company with no outside investment whatsoever.

It feels a lot like a middling entry in the COD franchise, but being free-to-play is a big advantage for it.

It is still possible to learn from the mistakes without name and shame blaming.

Though if you want to name and shame blame, politicians have to record the source of their donations, so it’s possible to list those that are currently taking money from the prison system and blocking change.

I honestly don’t understand America though, in other countries lobbying would be called corruption.

I was just trying to say there’s not much point in outing people who passed a decades old bill unless they are still in power. It’s more useful to highlight those that are in the pocket of the system and corruptly (legally through lobbying) blocking progress currently. They should be the targets.

By silently voting you mean they just happen to love the prison system, or that they are hiding their links to it? It should be public knowledge if a politician is receiving kickbacks from the prison industrial complex, but I’m sure some manage to hide it too.

I’m all for publicly shaming them all, just trying to encourage focusing on the ones currently in power and on the take. But if you’re relying on people who have no shame to be ashamed, then there could well be no progress.

To be fair, all of that is in COD and that’s a full priced game (at least the multiplayer aside from Warzone).

It’s true it does cost to keep things running. But like you say there are ways around this to push server costs onto players, or simply allow offline play with online features disabled.

I think if there were legislation in place then design decisions would adapt. If it were costly to just shut a game down abruptly, there would be player hosted options in place from the start and ideally less spurious “always online” requirements woven into the fabric of every game.

Sure Zuck is an idiot for wearing this in PR shots. But at the same time, I don’t believe he truly has a hatred for modern Tunisia specifically.

When someone comissions a painting, they choose the subject and that’s about it. Sure if they didn’t like it they might not pay, but that’s probably already more hands off than any publisher in the games industry.
