Ich meine, ich hätte mal gelesen, dass das in den USA teilweise eine Methode ist, um Regelungen zu politischen Spenden zu umgehen - es ist erst mal nicht verboten, wenn eine Firma palettenweise Bücher kauft

Linux Mint on Intel Silicon Mac

Hi all! I was wondering if there was anyone who installed Linux Mint on their Non-Retina Intel Silicon Mac (the Mac’s up to/around 2012). I have a 2012 15 Inch Macbook Pro with an i7-3615QM. Between possible driver issues, and the fact that it’s a Mac with a 3rd Generation CPU, I’m not sure if I can get away with using it...

I don’t have any personal experience, but assuming Action Retro’s YouTube videos are somewhat accurate, older x86 Macs seem to work well with modern distros.

You might run into some issues with Thunderbolt, but most of the hardware isn’t that unusual, so there shouldn’t be any major driver problems.

Older OSes did that, but modern ones usually just do the equivalent of format /q in DOS (write new filesystem metadata only, don’t check for bad sectors)

It should be possible to detect non-ads by downloading different versions of the audio file and checking which sections are identical, but you’d need some way of detecting transitions between sections.

If the ads use a voice actor who doesn’t talk on the podcast, maybe you could try to detect that.

Angeblich hat Jimi Hendrix ein langes Spiralkabel als Tiefpassfilter für seine Gitarre benutzt, aber bei Line-Level-Signalen sollte das keinen großen Unterschied machen

Wenn ich das richtig verstehe, dann verhält sich ein langes Kabel zwischen einer Signalquelle und einem Verstärker wie ein Kondensator parallel zur Signalquelle.

Die Induktivität macht wahrscheinlich nicht so viel aus.

Die beiden Leiter im Kabel entsprechen den beiden Elektroden eines Plattenkondensators - wenn man sich ein Datenblatt von einem Koaxialkabel anschaut, steht da unter anderem die Kapazität pro Länge.

So weit ich weiß, ist ein Spiralkabel nicht unbedingt nötig, aber damit ist es einfacher, ein sehr langes Kabel auf wenig Platz unterzubringen. Ich hätte jetzt auch gedacht, dass sich die Magnetfelder der beiden Leiter im Spiralkabel gegenseitig aufheben, weil der Strom in entgegengesetzte Richtungen fließt, aber ich weiß nicht, ob das in diesem Kontext relevant ist.

I have no idea why this wouldn’t work on your machine - I’ve tested it on mine and it works fine. So maybe you have overlooked some small things:

  • If there are any other PDFs in the directory that you don’t want to rename, then the list of files is longer than the list of names.
  • If the PS window closes completely, you might have typed it into the terminal instead of running it as a script - then the problem might just be that you closed the if block too early, so PS immediately executes the exit command.
  • If your list of new names contains a column label like in a one-column CSV, then it has one more line than there are files.

That will crash if there is more than one line in individuals.txt, because by the second iteration ‘._2023 Summary Page.docx’ has been renamed.

Just use Copy-Item instead of Rename-Item if you want multiple identical files with different names
