I'm honestly not bitter that my mother & sister traveled 6+ hours to attend my niece's graduation when they wouldn't drive 35 minutes for my son's graduation last year. There's a small part of my brain that is screaming YOU SHOULD BE ANGRY. But for my own happiness, I'm choosing to let it go. I hope they have a safe trip.
Slept 4.5 hours last night. Get Younger Kidlet on the bus, clean up the morning breakfast stuff, settle to fall back to sleep... just about to drift off & the phone rings. The school doesn't want him because the doctor's note we gave them stated that he is to be excused yesterday and today. I just picked him up & now husband is annoyed with the school but I get the brunt of it.
I'm so fucking tired and drained. I've been running on fumes for weeks now & I'm done with it all.
At er with Younger Kidlet. He fell of his bike & landed on his chin. He got 3 stitches there & his jaw is broken in 2 parts. Waiting to talk to the surgeon. His lips are cut & he's randomly spitting pieces of asphalt out of his braces. Going to be a long night.
12:51am Saturday. I've been awake since 4am Friday. The Dr came in & did another exam. No decisions have been made but they're thinking surgery. Busy night in the hospital. Lots of noise, crying & beeping.
Home by 3:15am. No surgery. They're going to wire his mouth shut Monday. He'll be on a strict liquid diet for 6 weeks. Hopefully the breaks will heal. If not, they'll insert 2 metal plates in one area. They're seemingly unconcerned about one fracture but the other (that took the force of his whole body) is the question.
He was spitting out pieces of driveway that were lodged in his braces all night. So gross. I have no idea how he didn't lose teeth.
Great news! He does not need to have his jaw wired! They took an X-ray today and said that it looks stable enough that he doesn't need to have it done. Amazing. He still not allowed to eat anything crunchier than mashed potatoes though. No chewing. For 6 weeks. Sigh.
This could have been so much worse though & I know that. I'm a #grateful mom. The Younger Kidlet has been a champion through this whole mess. An absolute rock star.
I love that the two leaders on my Annual 2024 Peloton Challenge Board are a 70+ year old with 16,664 minutes and an 88 year old with 7,299 minutes; They are very inspirational! I'm not doing too bad at 5,011 minutes of exercise for the year either though. #peleton#exercise#fitness#longevity
Harking back to that discussion of “which of these is the shampoo, conditioner, and body wash?” when they are unlabeled in a hotel - i posited that the conditioner was likely to be to the right of the shampoo due to a US-based left to right bias. This hotel proves me wrong. (At least these are labeled)
@consumablejoy In the hotel room I had this weekend it went l-r shampoo, shower gel, conditioner (which was empty😒). I was glad that I read them before hopping in because I may have struggled without my glasses on.
@MsHearthWitch@consumablejoy I had all intentions of bringing my own then forgot them. I went to purchase travel sizes of shampoo/conditioner & they were $6.00 each and not my brand. 😒 No thanks. 🙄 I only washed my hair once, on Sunday & that was because I felt super grungy.
I have a "no buying yarn unless you have a project in mind" rule, buuuut I might have ordered 5 skeins for a yet-to-be-planned sweater project 🙈
I'm thinking something like this cabled mesh sweater? With those traditional 90s punk stripes (you know the ones). With or without the color work skull (to be decided)
