It‘s Birthdaychristmas - managed to buy five complete TSR era #adnd boxed sets (#Ravenloft and #Darksun) plus a pile of fragmented setting material on eBay for 170 EUR which is a good price since some of the English language 2nd ed material is hard to come by in Germany. Boxes were sent to my partner‘s flat since I’m in Italy right now. Best thing: my gf recorded a long unboxing video for me, so that curious me could check how complete the treasure was I found on the internet 😍 #osr#ttrpg
Am on an official trip (work related) in #Palermo and managed to prolong my stay so that I can also stay for the weekend. What a privilege. My plan is to see a lot of medieval/Norman sites, go for long walks through the old town and along the sea and hang out in cafes 🙃

Das Spiel am Open Table mit mehreren SL war für mich komplett neu. Ich habe das Gefühl, einen ganz neuen Aspekt des Hobbies ❤️für mich erschlossen zu haben.

Heute durfte ich mal wieder eine Runde #OSE am analogen Open Table leiten. Alle paar Montage bringe ich bei mir zuhause eine #osr Runde an den Start. Das Miniprojekt Open Table läuft ganz gut an und ich bin gespannt, wie sich das weiter entwickelt. Heute haben wir #HideousDaylight von Brad Kerr gespielt. Auch voll schön, über das Hobby so viele neue Leute kennenzulernen und nicht diesen Scheduling-Stress an den Hacken zu haben. #RedBoxRheinMain#pnpde
Ran an in-person game of #OldSchoolEssentials at my local #RedBoxRheinMain open table, tonight. I’m so glad that I turned to open table gaming in 2023. Since then, I met a bunch of super nice people at our #valravn online open table. I work full time and have a kid (❤️), but open table gaming helps me pursuing the beloved hobby to an astonishing degree. Can’t spend a whole day playing hours long #ttrpgs on weekends 🥱, but checking in for a 2.5 hrs session on a workday: with ease
@HeyeBodo 2 - 2,5h is also plenty of time to tell a story.
My friends and I have been doing this for a while, even back when we were students (and had infinite time).
I feel like this time limitation also helps me focus on a strong start and pulling it all together after 1,5 - 2h, so there's a nice end to the session.
We used to run out of steam during longer sessions and eventually just "paused", which is not as satisfying as a nice cliffhanger or resolution.

Ich musste das Szenario (The Haunting of Ypsilon-14) ziemlich straff leiten, weil es bei einem echten, max 3 Std langen one shot bleiben sollte. Das Modul ist echt ne ganz eigene Liga für sich in Punkto Informationsdesign. Just Wow. #Valravn#pnpde

Hey #trrpg folks, has anyone of you played #17thCenturyMinimalist , an #osr game for „historical low-fantasy“ settings? I‘m always on the lookout for an osr rules set that aligns well with early modern (inspired) settings. I‘m just reading through the 17thCM rules and like what I see. I wonder how the luck mechanics turn out in the game. They are clearly intended to counter the „lethality“ of the game (hp do not increase), but I’m not a big fan of meta-currency, re-roll mechanics. Any thoughts?
Today I launched my #RedBoxRheinMain#osr open table. I mostly play online, so that I was super excited (and a bit nervous) to invite a bunch of strangers to my flat to play some old school #dnd (#OSE). Got the impression, the players enjoyed the evening. To be continued, I guess 🙃

I ran #SevenSilverSpheres (for Cairn) which I‘d like to recommend after today‘s experience. It is a concise forest-themed point crawl I learned about on the #betweentwocairns podcast (https://pointlessmonument.itch.io/seven-silver-spheres). We played through the module in about 2 hours. Fun social encounters with goblins revering „the best goblin“ 😂, some suspense, one dead PC.
