Huckledebuck,

This is why they feel they’ve already won. They can say shit it court like the president has the authority to kill political opponents. It’s a hail mary for them, but it doesn’t matter at this point. The highest court in the US is now listening and thinking about that question.

Huckledebuck,

No one knows how someone will react to trauma. That’s why it doesn’t teach anything. Few people can come out of that and be, “Oh, I get it now!”

[Request] If you don't live in a swing region/state, better to vote third party than waste your vote on an almost certain outcome. Yeah?

Is this logic flawed? Obviously in swing races, vote how it’s needed, but if it’s probably going to be a landslide, why not vote for a third party? Some regions even allow for multiple party representation if enough people show interest, so it could be doing future good (if you think more parties is better representation)

Huckledebuck,

I think one argument against would be that there is a movement to change how the presidential election is decided. Your right, the electoral College doesn’t care who you vote for in an uncontested state. But if we can keep showing that it doesn’t represent the popular vote, then maybe something will change.

Huckledebuck,

Maybe it’s time for y’all-qeada to show its true colors.

Spoiler alert: it’s yellow

The Guardian US: Trump cancels North Carolina rally due to storm in first public address since New York trial (www.theguardian.com)

Trump follows with postings about how the beautiful mother nature whom he’s always respected has joined the witch trial by continuing to keep him from speaking. But at least he could catch up on some rest.

POLITICO: Trump spent the day listening to strangers insult him. And he couldn't say a single thing back. (www.politico.com)

And through it all, Trump has been required to remain seated, not gesturing, not talking and not using his phone. He has not even been allowed to adjust the temperature a few degrees in a courtroom he described as “freezing.”

If you're selected for jury duty (US), should you give up your anonymous social media accounts?

I have old Facebook and Twitter accounts, maybe some others. I’m old so there’s a MySpace account out there. But I’ve mostly been using reddit the last decade or so, and have migrated to Lemmy. Now, Lemmy is the only social media i use. Recent news got me thinking about this question.

Huckledebuck,

I just want to add, that this is completely hypothetical. I was just fantasizing about slipping onto Trump’s jury.

Huckledebuck,

But, would it be worth it?

Huckledebuck,

Thanks for the participation everyone!

My conclusion is that the question is moot. You most likely won’t be asked to give up your entire social media activity. But you can be asked about the content if it’s relevant to the case.

Perjury is serious beyond the penalties, and i solemnly swear that i had no intentions of doing so.

Huckledebuck,

Yep, plus what the other commenter brought up. It’s middle school. These kids are thinking they can get out of class to make fun of other kids and maybe get on the news doing it. They’re parents created this out of nothing to do just what you’re saying.

Huckledebuck,

Damn, I’m really sorry to hear that.

Huckledebuck,

It sounds like she’s lucky to have you. We can all learn from trauma as long as you have the right people around you.

Huckledebuck,

Too easy. He doesn’t pass out. He evolves into his true form and starts destroying new York.

Reuters: US Supreme Court leans toward Jan. 6 rioter in obstruction case, with Trump implications (www.reuters.com)

The justices heard arguments in Joseph Fischer’s appeal of a lower court’s ruling rejecting his attempt to escape a federal charge of corruptly obstructing an official proceeding - the congressional certification of President Joe Biden’s victory over Trump that the rioters sought to prevent on Jan. 6, 2021.

Axios: Biden told Netanyahu U.S. won't support an Israeli counterattack on Iran (www.axios.com)

“I told Prime Minister Netanyahu that Israel demonstrated a remarkable capacity to defend against and defeat even unprecedented attacks — sending a clear message to its foes that they cannot effectively threaten the security of Israel,” Biden said.

Huckledebuck,

Did they mistake a frying pan for a bullseye target???

Huckledebuck, (edited )

I don’t know. I was trying to point the blame beyond the obvious. I didn’t really mean that they mistook the emblem.

I’m sure their preperations included making sure everyone was aware how they were leaving. Israel just doesn’t care.

Edit: I realize now the extra question marks don’t read as the sarcasm i had meant.
