No, they can’t. The fediverse doesn’t work like that, it isn’t controlled by one entity, the most individual instances could do is defederate from Reddit.
I have been on the edge with twitter and reddit for a while and I have finally deleted my accounts that I have had for a very long time there. They are no longer the places I used to know, even more so with twitter. I am ready for my new time here and on mastodon....
I hope you consider an open news alternative, or even a closed one slightly less bad than Apple. Good for you for not using Reddit though.
I fear that sounded too condescending, I seriously want to encourage you to not use Apple without making you sound like an idiot.
I don’t think you are an idiot, just the same as the other millions of people who were taken in by Apple’s ‘privacy’ and ‘simplicity’, while not realising the price gouging, right to repair smashing, closed source, keeping everything ensnared its ecosystem that it really is.
I’m fairly new and don’t 100% understand it yet, but instances are run on servers that require money. Are we heading towards seeing ads or subscriptions to raise funds instead of relying on donations to cover overhead?...
For the past day or so every time I try to open Jerboa it just crashes immediately without an error message why. Is there any scheduled update/fix for Jerboa? I'd like to be able to browse on mobile again and really enjoyed the app while it was working....
I’m currently using wefwef to reply to you, I use them both interchangeably, but Connect has more formatting options in the markdown editor, whereas Wefwef expects you to just remember how to format anything in markdown. Both experience errors constantly.
The app has an amazing experience so far, because it feels like I'm just using Apollo, heaps of baked in features that no other app has so far. It's a web app so installation is pretty forward. Much love to the Devs!...
Question: People who still frequent Reddit, has it gone back to business as usual or are the protests still having effect?
I haven’t gone back since Apollo shut down, and not planning to, but I am curious.

What from reddit do you hope to never see on lemmy?

So how long until the Fediverse is monetized?

How do you reply to a comment?
I can reply to a post, and upvote or downvote a comment, but I don't see a button or gesture to reply to a comment?
The best Lemmy app so far is "Wefwef" hands down. If you loved Apollo you'd love this.
