Depends if it’s source available vs open source.

Just wanted to say I appreciate you taking the time to post these.

My confusion is to the whole “how could you possibly talk about two things in a minute and change?” And I’m just sitting here trying to remember the last time I talked to someone other than my mother on the phone for more than 30 seconds.

You realize virtually every American building with electricity has 220v? It’s not some mystical thing only some people have stumbled upon. All it would take to install it is running cable… which is what needs to happen anyway. Not only are they being placed where you’re not likely to have existing lines, you wouldn’t want to use existing line since you wouldn’t want these on a shared breaker to begin with.

Yeah the first rule about something like this is to keep your damn mouth shut.

The second rule is to launder it slowly so it can’t be traced back to you.

I’d only do this if I was desperate. The company already showed they are willing to just pull the trigger at the drop of a hat and don’t give a fuck, even if I was still looking I’d be waiting for the other shoe to drop.

If it wasn’t for this comment, I’d have moved on never knowing what it is for. I’m not going to dig my way across the internet to figure out what something is, if it’s worth looking at someone will actually say what it is and what it does.

Many of them likely don’t even know what Denuvo is nevermind what games utilize it.

Anti-cheat makes a lot of sense in certain cases. Multiplayer, for instance, and even online coop. The moment you’re able to influence someone else’s experience, anti-cheat makes sense.

Though I’d argue it should be optional for “private” experiences, like private servers.

I created a board game alternative for evil people (lemmy.today)

Guys, I have something to brag about. After almost a year of hard learning, I finally created my first mobile game! Storiado is a board game alternative that will make you wonder what’s wrong with your friends. Play by answering simple questions, mix all the answers, and generate the most twisted story you’ve ever read. And...

Biometrics are one thing, why does this need read/write to external storage and settings, and system alert permissions?

How is calling someone a “disingenuous pos” harassment? Like, mean, sure. But harassment?

KairuByte, (edited )
@KairuByte@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

There’s like 2 there

Edit: Fucksakes people, read the text in the images. Two of them are the exact same message from db0 with the above/below cropped out. And read the to/from.

The harassment is coming from the person taking the screenshots, db0 is the one not harassing people. Though he isn’t being super nice, I can’t really blame him.

KairuByte,
@KairuByte@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

That first message is to db0, not from. Look at the headers.

KairuByte,
@KairuByte@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

Yeah, I may have mentioned it before, but I was labeled a “pedo apologist” because I defined a word (yandre iirc) while explicitly saying I hadn’t played an objectively horrible game.

They proceeded to intentionally misread my comment, and I was told I was perpetuating things by [drumroll] stating that I hadn’t played the game, and had not defended the game or it’s creator in any way.

One of their admins said (paraphrased) “fine, say you’re sorry, and don’t talk about it again, and we are cool.” An hour later I was banned from the instance.

It’s annoying because I actually enjoyed some of their (non political) communities.

Looking through the thread that got you banned though, they left another user who didn’t know the rules alone, and instead just gave them a “hey that’s not how you do disengaging on this instance.” Seemingly no ban. Nuckin futs.

KairuByte,
@KairuByte@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

I don’t blame you at all. It’s hard to keep your cool when you’re being told “stop hitting me” by the person actively hitting you.

KairuByte,
@KairuByte@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

Did you read the same messages I did? Even the person who posted the comment above said there were three harassing things, and the “pos” comment was harassment only because of those.

Missing the part where the “pos” comment was the only thing db0 said, and the three harassing things were what was being said to him.

If you need mental gymnastics to vilify someone, maybe rethink your position.

You can block an instance, but not all users from that instance. It’s essentially a “don’t see this instances posts” option.

KairuByte,
@KairuByte@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

Could be your client doing that actually, but it’s not a Lemmy feature.

KairuByte,
@KairuByte@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

Sorry, to be clear I meant “block this instance” is a Lemmy feature, but “block users from a blocked instance” is likely client side. And to be clear, the web front ends are also clients. Many of them are non standard.

If you look at the description of the instance blocking, it says it doesn’t block users.

Didn’t mean to confuse things, I should have been more clear.

Most consumer internet providers have clauses in their agreements which prohibit things like hosting a website, or serving content. Both of which are things done pretty regularly by hobby level selfhosters.

Now, I’ve never actually heard of an ISP actioning on such clauses, but they are there none the less.

Question: Johnny needs to eat a fruit, and has an Apple and an orange. Johnny drops the Apple into a storm drain. Which fruit will Johnny have to eat?

The only devs who could maybe benefit from sales protection are precisely the devs who can’t afford to utilize it. Namely indie developers who actually see all the profit directly, instead of having been paid up front.

PlayStation official response to Helldivers 2 fans (nitter.poast.org)

“Helldivers fans – we’ve heard your feedback on the Helldivers 2 account linking update. The May 6 update, which would have required Steam and PlayStation Network account linking for new players and for current players beginning May 30, will not be moving forward....

Just FYI, Mojang has completely locked down all accounts that did not migrate, and they are literally impossible to retrieve.

Yeah, steam launching is a completely different beast. I doubt any of the launchers can handle it, since it requires a fresh-ish and valid token.

The way the launchers typically work, is having you save your credentials within the GW2 launcher, then storing the encrypted launch data away and shuffling it around as needed. You just can’t do that with Steam login.
