It wouldn't make sense for religious people to outright steal an item they see blashphemous; they wouldn't want to keep it around.

I suspect edgy people just wanted the cool sign.

Yes, there is FOSS keyboard I can recommend.

Florisboard

Florisboard is FOSS and it has a lot of customization.

I don't have to think about the keyboard, because it just feels right.

As for language customization, it also had the layout for my language (Finnish) so that's cool.

The link is for github, you can get it with Obtainium or from Fdroid.

Also, you can check if the Openboard has a lot of open issues on github, if it does, it might be deprecated.
