When using feet and inches, its fine to use precision of 1 inch as it’s much smaller unit than 0.1 m.

If one says that they are 5’11" (180.34 cm), they can be 5’10.5" (179.07 cm) to 5’11.5" (181.61 cm) tall. That’s 1.4% variance.

If using meters with one decimal place, and say they are 1.8 m (5’10.9"), they can be 175 cm (5’8.9") to 185 cm (6’0.8") tall. That’s 5.6% variance.

Thus it’s not really viable to use only one decimal place when using metres as unit, so in many languages it’s easier to just say the length in centimeters compared to use two deeimal places.

The problem with pumping is low energy density, especiall when compared to deating water. Heating 1 kg of water by 1°C requires 4186 joules of energy. So to store the same energy by “lifting” water, it would require 4186 j / (1 kg * 9.81 m/s^2) = 426 m of height difference. This value seems unbelievable, but I have triple checked it. And that is only 1 degree of difference, 50 degrees difference would equal 27 km of height difference.

Tofu is really easy to prepare poorly, it’s important to season it heavily as bland tofu doesn’t really taste like anything. But this makes tofu extremely versatile, it can even be used in smoothies.

I solved this issue by getting an ortholinear split keyboard (keebio iris) and flashed it with custom dvorak layout. This way my muscle memory hasn’t suffered much then using a regular keyboard with qwerty, only special characters like paranthesis cause issues.

I think all about what one is used to. I used to eat large breafast and would feel horrible by lunch if I skipped it. But after skipping the breakfast most days for a couple months I’m barely hungry before lunch and haven’t noticed any difference in energy levels.

Well, here (in middle of finland) the sun set at 14:30, so there wasn’t all that much solar energy available.

Also heat pumps are always at least as efficient as straight electric heating.

If I cannot fall asleep in 30 minutes or so, I “give up” and go lay on sofa and watch something low intesity from youtube (restoration channels are great for this. This removes most pressure to fall asleep, which often is enough to make it possible to fall asleep quicklyish. And if not, at least watching videos is more interesting that lying in dark room.

Note that you should either wear blue-light blocking glasses (not those barely tinted “computer glasses”, but those that are meant for blocking lasers), or use some software solution, in order to not disturb melatonin production. It’s a good idea to start doing this at least an hour before going to bed in order to allow melatonin to build-up.

I suggest going straight to kagi.com, or you can also use your current search engine to find it using query “kagi”.

But to be serious, it’s great. The search results themselves feel like how google used to feel years ago before the enshittification, and there are many useful features, like changing priority of different websites. I for example have removed all pinterest sites, reduced instagram and increased wikipedia weighting. They have a free 200 search trial, give it a go!
