@MargotRobbie@lemmy.world

On the internet, nobody knows you are Australian.

To tell you the truth, I don’t know who I am either. Somebody sincere, perhaps.

But if you ever read this one day, I hope that you are as proud of me, as I am of the person I imagined you to be.

Instead of pretending to be his own infant son (which is really, really weird) , it would be much funnier if he made an alt account pretending to be a bad impersonation of himself, if he has a sense of humour, that is.

That way, he can say things without having it link back to him and stay under the radar, after all, who in the right mind would ever expect an unverified “Elon Musk” Twitter account to be ran by the actual Elon Musk?

MargotRobbie,

I don’t understand how he even have time to be so terminally online when he’s running like 5 different companies.

X automatically changed 'Twitter' to 'X' in domain names, breaking legit URLs (mashable.com)

On Monday, it appears X attempted to encourage users to cease referring to it as Twitter and instead adopt the name X. Some https://twitter.com/t3dotgg/status/1777425000133468582 began https://twitter.com/___frye/status/1777432913497465082 that posts https://twitter.com/__justplaying/status/1777433986500853845 via X for iOS were...

They should switch the name to Wayland.com as a compromise.

Which movies have aged like fine wine? (either in their message or cinematography)

I recently saw ‘Don’t Look Now’ (1973). Good picture, a little slow perhaps by today’s standards but worthy of any movie enjoyer’s time! So this movie was shot in Venice. Venice itself being an already beautiful spot to film even today. The way we get to look in a time capsule of Venice in the 70s makes the movie that...

Fellow lemmings, for me, it’s “Barbie”, a movie that aged beautifully over the last uh, 8 months, and its message is as relevant today as it was when it was released July 21st of 2023.

Musk Admits He Doesn't Fact-Check Himself and Has Two Burner Accounts on Twitter (www.rollingstone.com)

Elon Musk‘s erratic posting on X, formerly Twitter, has come back to haunt him once again as a 22-year-old Jewish man pursues a defamation case over tweets in which the tech mogul baselessly suggested the recent college graduate was an undercover federal agent posing as a neo-Nazi during a street fight between far-right...

Having private accounts isn’t that unusual for public figures, sometimes people just want to soapbox and vent in public a little but not attract too much attention to themselves.

Roleplaying your own infant son on one of your private account, however, is super, super weird.

The Meridian trench of the Death Star is on the outside, so the Death Star explosion is actually an outside job, you silly Billy!

It’s becoming harder and harder to be a Harry Potter fan nowaday.

I don’t really understand what it is about X Formerly Known as Twitter that turns previously respectable people into, well, this.

Everybody should take a break from social media once in a while, it’s better for your health.

Part of it is that having a large captive audience hanging on to your every word really starts to amplify toxic characteristics in those with the predisposition for shittiness. Like Musk or Trump, their descend only came when they became active on social media.

Twitter is a horrible thing.

MargotRobbie,

If I remember correctly, it all started when she retweeted something that was a bit ignorant and was called out for it on Twitter, but then she kept doubling down until it got to this point, when she could have just stopped talking about it.

It’s not that Twitter suddenly turned her into a bad person, but it definitely brought out the worst in her.

There were always questionable elements from the books, like the depictions of goblins and elves. But knowing what we know now, these elements cannot be brushed off any more.

Wait a minute:

CIA AGENT JOHN

I TAG JOHN CENA

The real answer is right in front of us all along. He played us all for fools.

When I was younger, I watched this movie where a terrifying creature, vaguely resembling a human and driven only by thoughts of death, escaped from a parallel dimension to hunt down a girl at her middle school, and there was this Wayland-Yutani type company who tried to cover up the escape by having their security force capture the creature and send it back to its own dimension, but then, the creature took the girl and her mother with it to its hell dimension, with the company security force in pursuit.

And then a bunch of guys who are way too into horses got in a big fight that turned into a dance number, and then creature went to the gynecologist for some reason.

I was brought to tears by the existential dread that still haunts me to this day that I decided to take a break from movies. But whatever that movie was, it should have won an Oscar this year.

MargotRobbie,

No idea what you are talking about.

Now if I only remember the name of this haunting movie or how to watch it…

MargotRobbie,

Of course not, because why would we stare at Excel sheets when it’s easier to write a Python script and use pandas to automate the staring part instead?

How else do you think we stay so gorgeous?

Trump’s Truth Social is now a public company. Experts warn its multibillion-dollar valuation defies logic | CNN Business (edition.cnn.com)

Nothing about Truth Social makes any sense.

I’ll bet she’s posting something really dumb on the Internet right now.

Hobby groups. Marketplace. Business page for companies. Everything except its original purpose of keeping up with the lives of your real life friends.

It’s dying in the sense that no Millenials really uses Facebook the same way we did as when it first started, and most Gen Z would treat having a Facebook page to be a completely alien concept.

People moved on.

Celebrity endorsement has never been a factor in how well a videogame does either way, regardless of level of star power or degree of involvement for the celebrity: Keanu Reeves playing a heavy hand (heh) in the story of Cyberpunk 2077 did little to stop the game’s initial bad press, and the main reason Baldur’s Gate 3 did well isn’t because JK Simmons is playing Kethric Thorm. (still, he had a great performance). Gameplay matters a lot more for a videogame.

It’s unsurprising then, that Oscar winning actor Will Smith’s involvement in a game in the oversaturated genre of zombie survival shooters did not become successful.

Plus, I don’t think paying celebrities to promote videos on their YouTube channel is an effective marketing strategy, mainly because nobody really watches any celebrities’ own YouTube channel, with the exception of Jack Black’s gaming channel, of course.

MargotRobbie,
@MargotRobbie@lemmy.world avatar

Yes, he did. But neither the main praise nor criticism of the game was not directed towards him but on the overall buginess and removal of RPG elements from the game.

They advertisd heavily on “complex branching storyline” and “every decision will have consequences” so the expectation was at the minimum a bigger Deus Ex Human Revolution, but then what they actually delivered is a worse GTA 5 with neon lights.

MargotRobbie,

No one will hold it against him personally, it’s not uncommon.

There are certain actors who performs great in every single movie they appear in, yet still have many of these movies flop. Many times, it’s out of the actor’s control.

All we can do is our best.

One of the most tragic scenes in Dune is when Paul Atreides realizes that Stilgar is no longer his friend but another one of his fanatical followers. Follower counts on social media really means nothing.

But maybe there is someone out there who refuses to participate in a broken system of a fantasy world, and instead decided to leave for a part of the Fediverse where their follower count is, and will forever remain, zero.

Like what Stereotypical Barbie did at the end of the movie.

MargotRobbie,
@MargotRobbie@lemmy.world avatar

My theory is that she was abducted by aliens like Bella Goth.

Famous Sims oddly appearing in every scene despite it not making sense for them to be there

Now where have I heard that one before? 🤔
